    Archetype?

Does anyone know what's the story behind that (awful) song that is lurking in the end of The Mind's I deluxe edition? It is something near acid house techno(?) and nothing like you'd expect DT to put out.

I heard they were drunk when they made it, that would be the only explanation IMO!

I don't know the story behind the song but I think it's amazing. It's amazing because it's different but I wouldn't like to hear DT making an entire album in the vein of Archetype.

I somehow find it oddly catchy. And slightly creepy... :P

    From an interview:

-”Archetype” was done out of sheer lust for experimentation. It’s definitely NOT a parody or a joke of any kind.

We listen to a lot of that sort of music and wanted to work with electronics for a change.
The concept of cutting and pasting of small bit and pieces from existing songs and to create something news out of them is very challeging.

Because I wasn’t present that much during the making of “Archetype” I’m not really sure from what songs samples were taken. A big part of the vocals are taken from “Razorfever” and there’s a few guitar bits from “Insanity’s crescendo”.
It’s indeed pretty hard to recognize the songs that were used.

Thanks, GrandSummon. That was exactly what I was looking for. Pretty much cleared things up.

    Good ^^

Now, let's hope their next album won't be a house album o.O

Maybe DT could release a double album with the 1st CD containing good old DT stuff (or new stuff I mean) and the 2nd made up with bits and pieces of songs from the 1st CD. That would be an interesting experimentation.

<<A big part of the vocals are taken from “Razorfever”>>

i thought these lyrics, "attach the nails and electrodes", was taken from "dissolution factor red"...
