You might enjoy Spektr, they play a mix of dark ambient and black metal, but it is freaky in a sense.

    JH Body of Water

    this track is haunting...

  • Schloss Tegal
Brighter Death Now: Necrose Evangelicum (album)
In Slaughter Natives: several more atmospheric tracks from sacrosancts bleed
    Crepuscule (hard to find)
Some stratvm Terror (particularly from genetic implosions and pain implantations)

All depends on where you are, and what you're doing. These are some artists I've sometimes struggled to sleep to.

Karjalan Sissit, album: "Fucking Whore Society". The scariest shit I've ever heard.

  • Japanies naturaly - ritualistic dark ambient Enemite - Wuyuan (2005). One of the best dark and scary ambient I´ve heard....

  • Tyr out Khanate's "Dead"!! It's more drone doom than ambient, but you might find it interesting cos' it's scary as hell! :P

  • velvet cacoon is more black metal, but can still sound scary.

Khanate is downright the most depressing, painful stuff I've ever heard though.

some sunn O))) tracks can be scary. "It took the night to believe" and "Bass Aliens".

I second brighter death now, especially "Heart of Stone".

  • Actually, I take back all my suggestions:
