  • Justice for Freddy Tello

    29 Sep 2007, 21:00 by jvglion

Ten years ago, a neighborhood friend of mine was murdered in a most unspeakable and heinous way. For information on the killing, please read this article.

    Washington Post | A Murder's Long Shadow

Freddy was a good guy, extremely playful, cracked jokes all the time, and did anything he could to try and hang out with my sister, who he professed his love for. She'd never go out with him no matter how many times he asked! haha. He was an amazing artist and I always admired his ability to march to a beat of a different drum and didn't care what people thought. I began to listen to copious amounts of Peter Tosh based on conversations of music with him. I don't think I ever remember seeing him get angry. Today, one of his murderers is paying out his sentence in an Israeli prison but will be freed in about 14 years. I don't typically use my journal as a forum to voice matters of a personal nature, but I'm just shocked about absolute injustice. Feelings of anger and regret began to resurface within me based on the country's inability to bring justice to Freddy and his family along with thinking of how these shits named Sheinbein are living a relatively easy life based on a loophole. I'm sure they're not shedding any tears or expressing any real regret for their actions otherwise they'd bring their cowardly asses back to prove they are men. My heart goes out to Freddy's mother and hope that justice will prevail. It looks doubtful, as with much associated with this shitstem of injustice.

    "No justice, no peace."

R.I.P. Freddy. Thanks for the laughs and irie vibes.
  • 5 Greatest Hip Hop Albums Of All Time?

    28 Sep 2007, 19:04 by davids2002

k, so i got bored and thought i'd try and come up with my 5 favourite albums of all time. It's in no order..

    GZA - Liquid Swords
    Nas - Illmatic
    Common - Resurrection
Wu Tang - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Ras Kass - Soul On Ice

Obviously this list changes quite a lot and i found it hard leaving out some albums (especially a couple of Tribe Called Quest albums), but this was the best i could come up with.

Let me know what you think and let me know what your top 5 are too

  • Kaki King + Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters = The Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners.

    17 Sep 2007, 07:55 by EmpressEricka

yeah i write about kaki alot
    who cares
    im proud
    lol

    link: http://www.zshare.net/audio/3679608647de99/

    a nice, melodic song
a softer side to dave grohl
    and a beautiful story

    vid >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xkFsVMBVFk

    background info:

At the other end of the spectrum, "The Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners" finds Grohl and guest guitarist Kaki King flexing their fingerpicking. "This song is almost banjo-picking style with hammer-ons and pull-offs," Grohl says. "I showed it to her once and she shredded it 10 times better than I've ever played it."

That song was inspired by two Tasmanian miners who were tapped underground for two weeks and, while awaiting rescue, requested an iPod with Foo Fighters music on it to help lift their spirits. Grohl was alerted of the situation by a staffer at the band's Australian record company and wrote a note to the two men.

"I was in tears, man," he recalls. "I said, 'Hey guys, it's Dave. You're in our thoughts and prayers. When you get out, there's two tickets and two cold beers waiting for you wherever you want to see the band.'"

The men were eventually brought to safety, and when one of them came to see the Foos play the Sydney Opera House, "I thought I'd write something for him," Grohl says. "I came up with this little instrumental thing. After the show, we went and got f*ckin' wasted in the hotel bar and I was like, 'Dude, I promise I'm going to put this on the record.'"

    :D
    enjoy.
