  • List the shows you've seen...

List all the shows you've seen here. If you can remember, tell us when, where, who was the backup, how much you paid for tickets, and whatever else you remember about the show.

    Example:
Van Halen; about 1978, Omaha's Music Hall, backed up by Journey and Ronnie Montrose. I paid $3.98 because it was promoted by KQ98 radio. VH's first album had just been released and was just starting to get airplay. It was my second date with what would become my wife. She liked Journey better, (chicks!). I wasn't very impressed with Van Halen; I thought they jumped around too much and the playing was loose and sloppy.
    (more shows to follow...)

Unholy Alliance @ HP Pavilion; San Jose CA; Summer 2006

    In order of Appearance:

Thine Eyes Bleed. Was the starting band.
Children of Bodom. Kick ass from Finland.
Mastodon. Didn't like them before but there ok.
Lamb of God. Kick fucking ass and insane.
    Slayer. Insane and Legends.

I payed about 30 bucks for the ticket and it was worth it.

Sounds of the Underground @ Shoreline Amphitheater; Mountain View CA; Summer 2006

Way to many bands to remember and I was baked out of my mind, but highlights included Gwar, Behemoth, In Flames, Job For A Cowboy, and Machine Head.

I payed about 60 bucks for the 2 tickets I bought. I dont remember much of it though.

Lamb of God North American Tour 2007 @ The Catalyst; Santa Cruz CA; February 2007

    In order of appearance:

Gojira. Really underrated French metal. Check them out.
Machine Head. You can never go wrong with them.
Trivium. They suck dick and were booed multiple times.
Lamb of God. One of the best bands ever, with a killer live show. Simply AMAZING.

I payed about 38 bucks for the ticket (it was really 28 but Santa Cruz has some fuckin weired taxes on stuff). And another 30 for the shirt, but I would do it all again.

  • Most of these bands I've seen numerous times, with those I've seen most frequently noted.

moe. - I've seen moe. around 60 times now. In my opinion no one else can play live like these guys check 'em out. Their shows are usually around 40 bucks a pop these days.
String Cheese Incident - a number of times, great shows but they're going on hiatus.
STS9 - 6 times - at a Bonnaroo late night set years ago, once in Rochester NY, and most recently at a five night run in Boulder Colorado. Tickets were around $40 for most shows.
    Allman Brother's Band
Particle - opening for moe. at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia 12/27/2003 and 12/28/2003 (my first ever concerts).
Yonder Mountain String Band - Thursday at the Square in Buffalo NY, free show.

    Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra
    Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

Disco Biscuits - at snoe.down, they sucked.
Brazilian girls - at snoe.down, definitely worth checking out.
    The Slip
    Little Feat
    Dave and Friends
    The Dead
    RatDog
    Primus
    Robert Randolph
    Praxis
    Umphrey's McGee
    Toubab Krewe
    The Roots

    Medeski Martin Scofield and Wood
    Moonshine Still
    Ekoostik Hookah
    Moonbox
    The Zeaskeez

    Low Red Land

There's more, but these are the really memorable ones. I also went to Ozzfest sometime last month. No offense if you enjoyed it, but it's not my scene :).

Wow lazaruslights, you've seen some of my favorite bands... great taste, I must say =D I seriously don't think I could begin to list my shows, I'm way too old and have been going to concerts for as long as I can remember! The Tower is a great venue, such a cool old place, though the neighborhood is pretty rough now...I think I'm going to see Smashing Pumpkins and Explosions in the Sky there in October. And there's a concert too, hahaha :P

My very first concert was in 10th grade (umm in 1987???) I saw the Beastie Boys at Lehigh University. I think the tickets were about $20! My most recent concert was coincidentally also at Lehigh University, I saw Dark Star Orchestra (for those of you who have no idea, DSO is the BEST GRATEFUL DEAD COVER BAND EVER)there last month, tickets were $30. It was a great show, very emotional for me too as it was on the eve of the 12th anniversary of Jerry Garcia's death. Jerry was personally responsible for many of my fondest concert memories... it will never be the same.

    Memory fading

Here is my list of some of the shows I've seen. Most were many, many years ago, so I can not tell you in which order I saw them or when. Mostly in the seventies and eighties. There are others I am sure, but even my friends that I went to them with can't remember them all. The only thing I do remember beyond a shadow of a doubt is that I can not remember any of them being bad or not worth it.

    Van Halen
    Robert Plant
    Bachman-Turner Overdrive
    Huey Lewis & the News
    The Edgar Winter Group
    Nazareth
    Chicago
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
    Supertramp
    Dream Theater
    Rush
    Frank Zappa
    Uriah Heep
    Rod Stewart
    Elton John
    Cyndi Lauper
    Pat Benatar
    Heart
    Eagles
    Styx
    Boston
    Kiss
    Queen
    Peter Gabriel
    Genesis
    Yes
    Jethro Tull
    Emerson, Lake & Palmer
    Johnny Winter
    Eric Clapton
    Deep Purple
    Santana
    Led Zeppelin
    Black Sabbath
    The Rolling Stones

Most recent is the one at the top of the list, Van Halen, which was just a few weeks ago. It too was a great concert in many respects.

  • Holy shit, I'm jealous of some of y'all.

I have advanced CRS (can't remember shit) so I'll list what I can think of:

First one: The Who, in 1983? '82?
    AC/DC, 83 or 84
    Van Halen 1984
All those in Biloxi, MS, when I was in high school.

After that, many years of seeing lots of bands in clubs and dive bars, some better than others. Lots of years missed being able to see concerts because I was in the Air Force stationed overseas and/or married to a stick in the mud (for at least a few of those years).

    In the 90's:
Eric Clapton on his blues tour
    Rolling Stones (finally!)
    Aerosmith
Metallica, Guns 'n' Roses, Faith No More
Slayer (3 times? one while pregnant!)
    Pantera 3 or 4 times
    Megadeth
    Type O Negative x 2
    Carnivore
Ozzy, plus 3 other times at Ozzfest, once with Black Sabbath (again, finally)
    Tool - Ozzfest
    Marilyn Manson - Ozzfest
    Motorhead - Ozzfest

At Jaxx in Springfield, VA (awesome place to see bands in a smaller venue!)
    Mercyful Fate
    King Diamond
    Jackyl
    Great White
countless other rock/metal bands that I can't remember

I know I'm forgetting some, but if I can't remember them they probably aren't worth remembering. I haven't been to a concert in nine years, since I had my daughter! I did go to Ozzfest when I was 6 months pregnant though--THAT was interesting. ;)

Two big regrets: I never got to see Led Zeppelin, and I blew my one chance to see Pink Floyd in 1994 because I was tired and hung over, too groggy to think straight, and stupidly thought "F- it, I'll go next time." (Lesson to kids: alcohol sucks!)

Johnny Uther, if you're only 13 and have been to those shows already, I'm insanely jealous! When I was 13 I cried, begged, to go see Led Zeppelin on their last tour and my parents thought I was just being a smartaleck asking to go, and laughed! :sniff:
In retrospect, it was pretty absurd--I wanted to take the train into downtown Chicago from the 'burbs with a couple other kids my age and just go. It seemed perfectly reasonable to me at the time, but not so much now that I've got a daughter. ;) Still...it WAS Led Zeppelin...
