    nice choices =)

i would have to say its a toss up for me, but here are a few at the top of my list:

    igor stravinsky
    edvard grieg
    frank zappa
    john zorn

    why?

stravinsky - the augur chord caused a riot and stravinsky was arrested on a separate occasion for rearranging the american national anthem and conducting it in boston (charge was "tampering with public property" i believe...)

grieg - peer gynt is one of the most brilliant scores i have ever heard. love all of his work, but that particular score has had a great influence on me.

zappa - i have no words.

zorn - brilliant composer, musician, producer and just about anything else you could think of. won the macarthur grant in '06 for his amazing library of works and contributions to the works of others.

  • Bartok, Varese, Webern, Ives, Messiaen, Russolo, Part
    Why? Because they're good

    Art flows within
  • Difficult, but here's a try:

    Olivier Messiaen
    Morton Feldman
    Yannis Kyriakides
    Arne Nordheim
    Michel van der Aa
    Iannis Xenakis
    Fartein Valen

  • Arnold Schönberg, cause he's god.

  • Huhu, so Schönberg has never existed.

  • Zorn, Feinberg, Mosolov, Xenakis, Partch, Ligeti, Wyschnegradsky, Bach, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Ives, Messiaen, Beethoven, Rimsky-Korsakov, Bartok, Varese, Ferrari, Mozart
