Beauty and the beast playlist

  • Beauty and the beast playlist

I'm trying to create a hour-long playlist (or many, but they have to fit on a 700mb audio cd) where classical music and rather brutal metal go side-by-side, I think I'll start with 'Ave Maria', followed by some Lykathea Aflame or Death, followed by Johann Sebastian Bach and so on.

    So far I have
    01. Ave Maria (Jesper Kyd's version) (4.10)
    02. Lykathea Aflame - Sadness and Strength (8.04)
    03. Johann Sebastian Bach - BWV 4: Coro (Versus IV) (2.38)
    04. Death Angel - Trashers (7.12)
    05. Sergei Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor, Op. 18 - 1. Moderato (10.15)
    06.
    07.
    08.
    etc

    Any ideas for these playlists?

Or how about this for an intro:
As Blood Runs Black: Intro before Ave Maria

Cannibal Corpse: From Skin to Liquid, slow and brutal instrumental death metal.

    Mozart: Requiem: Kyrie

    Orff: O Fortuna

Somethig Burzum. Dunkelheit or Lost Wisdom

Meshuggah: I. Perhaps a tad long at 21:00

perhaps something from Britten: War Requiem?

If you want to find new bands then try joining under 2000 listeners
  • Thanks for the help. As I said in the FAQ I will share the playlists once we've reached 100 members. This gives me time to prepare some cool stuff (or utterly fail in doing so)

  • I has no life outside the internets so I is going to create a playlist of FAIL so everyone can download, that is, if anyone gives a shit.

  • You're probably no longer seeking suggestions, but I like the idea, so here're a few: (note: I don't really like most brutal death metal, so I'll use mostly other extreme metal)

I'll follow your lead and begin with Schubert:

    Ave Maria - 4:48
    Empty - 4:16
    Prelude in A Minor, BWV 543 - 3:18
    Shadows That Move - 3:37
Dance of the Blessed Spirits - 6:27
    So You Die - 3:18
    Träumerei - 2:42
    Heir Apparent - 8:50
    Symphony no. 1 in C - 2. Adagio - 9:17
    Phobophile - 4:39
    Solveig's Song - 5:09
Night on Bald Mountain - 11:24

  • Okay, after putting more thought into it, here's another list:

Prelude in A minor - Bach
CHildren of the Grave - Black Sabbath
The Four Seasons, Winter, Allegro - Vivaldi
    Angel of Death - Slayer
Dance of the Blessed Spirits - Gluck
    Dead Embryonic Cells - Sepultura
    Requiem, Introitus - Mozart
    Troldskog Faren Vild - Ulver
Piano Sonata No. 14 in C sharp minor, Adagio - Beethoven
    Soul Burn - Meshuggah
    Ständchen - Schubert
    The Funeral Portrait - Opeth
    Träumerei - Schumann
    Blood and Thunder - Mastodon
    Ave Maria - Gounod
    Misanthrope - Ihsahn

    1:19:16 - 64MB

Here's a link. (If this violates any Last.fm policies, please let me know and I'll take it down.)

Here's a harder challenge: how about a playlist with heavy classical pieces alternating with softer, more melodic pieces by metal bands. Think, for example, Coil and Mars, the Bringer of War. If I can come up with something good, I'll post it here along with a download link.
