SUPERSONIC FESTIVAL 2011

October 21-23

The Custard Factory - Birmingham

Ticket details are here:

www.supersonicfestival.com/tickets

This is what Supersonic 2010 was all about. We're pretty sure you'll enjoy 2011 even more.

Supersonic once again takes place in and around the Custard Factory in the heart of Eastside of Birmingham, utilising converted factory warehouses and art galleries and offering up-close, intimate settings to showcase some of the most exciting music out there. Capsule’s passion for genre-bending sound and performances is at the heart of all their events – there are not many places where you can listen to funeral doom, prog, folk, avant jazz and grindcore in one weekend.

Funny little anecdote about Head of David...I ran into a work colleague before their set whose boyfriend's uncle is the lead singer. This reminded me that following a recent accident (dropped a car on my little finger!), I had a couple of ops under general anaesthetic. After coming round from the first one I played Head of David to myself. Possibly an odd choice by normal standards, but it did the trick as it healed sufficiently to get me to Supersonic :) And agreed, their performance was immense.

Seeing as Supersonic is effectively a surrogate religion for me I have to join this group. My highlight was definately the Kylie Minoise and Atomized gigs on Friday night. Although I can barely remember a dull moment during the whole weekend. Did anyone else see that Raqs Media Collective and the Joanne Tatham & Tomo Sullivan exhibitions just around the corner from the custard factory? The former was very comendable, the latter was a bit 'ish.

Absolutely the illest Supersonic yet. Head of David were immense. I'm already desperate for next year.

Sunday 26 July 2009. Theo, Pontiak, Arbouretum, Jarboe, Earthless, Head of David, Goblin. And Master Musicians of Bukkake the day before. Unforgetable.
