    ew, in flames.

i'm not a big In Flames fan, but imo it's great to convert people to metal with

He's right, that song has some chick singing in it, so you could use this song to trick someone into thinking they're listening to an Emo Song, then move them into listening better Metal

Same for Pure by Mors Principium Est

I would recommend the entire album Demigod by Behemoth, but it scared the shit out ov this one dude I know :p So put that one on Hold

Pretty disappointing. You don't have to be tricking people into liking certain types of music. Especially since this thread is supposed to be for those people, don't outright say you're going to trick them into liking something lol.

    Pantera is groove metal.

  • pfft Pantera is Black Metal

Maybe tricking was the wrong word to use. Hush xD. The Female vocals just gets their attention. It's still Metal. Pure is freaking Great D:

It's like an order, First Stage is them hearing Pure to get their attention

Second is showing them the song Inhumanity, also by Mors. It's the same band so they'll be familiar with it

Third, and probably the most commonly, last stage, Show them other bands and show them heavier music if they wish, and hope they keep listening to that

Personally, my last stage would end with them Listening to something heavy as Behemoth.

That's my Method, and I don't really want to Trick or Force it on them.
Remember Guys, No means No. :O

Personally a good method would be to start off with something with clean vocals to get them used to the heaviness, but if they listen to metalcore (or deathcore) with really harsh vocals then starting them off with old death metal would be applicable. Once they get really into that then slowly up the speed and the brutality. Don't focus on just one band, focus on a genre or style.

  • I thought I posted. Damn wireless Internet.

Anyway, that method could be used by going from bands like Blind Guardian, and Rhapsody of Fire, then move on to such bands with vocals like Slayer's. then move to brutalnessity...

I actually started with DragonForce went to Rhapsody then Slayer, and after that my music went everywhere

-_- You should start saying "you/ya'll" instead of "them".
And keep your recommendations high quality =p. Kinda went like this for me:
    Dream Theater
    Megadeth
    In Flames
    Children of Bodom
    Acid Bath
    Electric Wizard
    Kalmah
    Dimmu Borgir

And from then on just exploring and exhausting each genre. Over several years of course.

For anyone not familiar with harsh vocals:

    Iron Maiden
    Sentenced
    Iced Earth

For anyone familiar with harsh vocals:

    Death
    Bloodbath
    Dismember

  • I live in Texas, so saying "ya'll" shouldn't be a problem for me, but I was talking in a certain point ov view >_>

I also forgot about Sepultura, not really clean vocals, not really Harsh.
