    Unknown Black Metal bands

    Unknown Black Metal Bands
Heey since there are a lot of great unknown black metal bands out there i thought i start this thread so people can finds new bands/projects. And Since black metal comes in a lot of different styles it is good to find great unknown bands to listen to.

    Beyond Light
This band is one of my favourites, very unknown. Beyond Light makes Depressive Atmospheric Black metal, with but acoustic as electric guitars. there are 3 demos out so far and the first full lenght will be released soon.

This 3 demos can be downloaded for free here:

Way under-listened-to, and way-under-appreciated: Sorg Uten Tårer -- gorgeous melodic black metal

Life Is Pain has perfect and depressive atmosphere

  • Visina - It's a bit of a stretch to call it black metal, in my opinion, but they're extremely original at the absolute least and their label and other people call it that, so whatever. They're Italian and have a chick vocalist who actually goes well with the music. Surprise surprise.

Aras - Not a favorite, but it is very solid. And heh, unknown, since he's from Iran.

I listened to one of their albums, and what a great find! Thanks :-)

  • Nocte Obducta - A blend of Avantgarde and Black Metal. Try Their newer albums - Nektar I and Nektar II.
Their myspace songs are currently not working at the moment so you can check these youtube videos. We will start off with a lighter song and then a heavy song to get a taste of both sides of the spectrum of this bands musical capacity.

Sorry for the poor youtube quality. :P

I would Also suggest Dawn and their album Slaughtersun. Melodic Black Metal.
    Dawn

Abigail Willimas is very talented melodic/symphonic/black metal band from the US. They aren't exactly unknown but are newer to the music scene so I'm guessing alot of you haven't heard them yet.
    Abigail Williams

Thurisaz are an atmospheric Death/Black metal band from Belgium who made an album back in 2007 that is pure genius called Circadian Rhythm.
    Thurisaz

And one last band I must mention that I'm sure at least a few of you have heard is Diabolical Masquerade. Avant garde black metal.
    Diabolical Masquerade

Make a change kill yourself, the atmosphere this guy brings in his music is so perfect very long songs with great lyrics in my opinion.

Waldgerumque - ambient black metal, with more than a hint of dark ambient. Links to download debut album are here.

Oh, and Aras is excellent! :-)

  • Wind of the Black Mountains : I actually just found this band a few days ago, and am thoroughly surprised. A black metal band from the U.S. that's older than many of the Norwegian originators, whose 1996 album sounds more unique than a lot of other projects we're hearing 13 years later. Rare instruments, amazing symphonic effects that don't detract from atmosphere, technical prowess...they're really quite beautiful as far as straight black metal goes and should be noted here.

lyzzrd: I went back to listen to him some more after posting, and find your statement to correlate with my thoughts about it more and more with more listens. :P It's surprising, I wonder if Iran is as intolerant of this art-form as, for example, Afghanistan. I've heard a one-man project from there also, though it honestly wasn't too great. Just mentioning it because it's fairly bad-ass to not just listen to, but create music that can easily get you ex-communicated from society at best, and killed at worst, simply because you feel a connection to it.

And Morgoths_Bane, Fauna was right on the money, as far as my tastes go. My appreciation. =]

Iran is really intolerant from what I've read of virtually any kind of rock or metal. I have a progressive rock/metal band I follow (Arashk), and I followed some of their links to other prog rock bands. One, apparently, couldn't get state clearance to play and publish music. I'm not sure if there are any social or criminal penalties if you just make the music, and I'm pretty sure no one is executed (I haven't read anything to indicate that there's any kind of that danger), but it's not an environment exactly conducive to creativity.
