    Yet another rock belgian website

    Hi!

Check this this out : http://www.belgorock.be/.

As favourite bands... Hum... dEUS (must say), Zita swoon, Ghinzu, Malibu Stacy (they've just won the Concours Circuit - friends of mine), Vitaphase (other friends - 18/12/04 @ Spirit of 66), Sharko, PPz30...

Not much inspired... Bit hackneyed, but can't help.

  • Hi,

Cant name the best band. But top listed are Soulwax, Das Pop and Millionaire. Mintzkov Luna and Seedling (or is that Dutch?) are best newcomers imo ;)

All in all Belgian music is over 10 years in advance as Dutch hehe

What about Maxon Blewitt?! (Zita Swoon spin off?)
Or Die Anarchistische Abend Unterhaltung, DAAU, despite the German name it's a Belgium band and let's not forget Mint.

    Belgian Bands

    Quoth Lunch:
    Vitaphase (other friends - 18/12/04 @ Spirit of 66)

Saw Vitaphase @ Spirt of 66 this Saturday. Pretty weird band playing noise pop with lots of (in my opinion sometimes too abrupt) breaks. Not bad though and still very young.

Favourites? I would go for: dEUS, Flip Kowlier, Millionaire, Mintzkov Luna (not live behh..), Zita Swoon, Dead Man Ray and recently also Mint (check them out May 8th next year ;)) For the quiet moments I would choose: Venus In Flames, Sioen and Ozark Henry. Not yet so well-known but I hope they'll get in your Audioscrobbler-lists soon: Tomàn (great postrock) and The Germans (cool!).

Agree, I saw them couple of weeks ago here in Zwolle. Podium act is not very energetic but it is very technical, perfect for just listening while drinking a beer.

Just checked the Seedling website and they are not Belgian, in fact they just pulled the plug and dont excist anymore. But check out their cd, its close to some Belgian bands. To bad they stopped.

I was there too. It may've sounded weird at times coz it was their first gig with their brand new drummer. Gonna be good - stay tuned.
Currently working on the website (http://www.vitaphase.be/).

She's a good strict drummer if this was her first gig. Keeping in mind that the songs are rhythmically pretty complex the hesitations she had should be nullified. I liked the danceable instrumental song that sounded dissonant / a bit Russian. Don't know the name of it.

  • Vandal X

Heavy 2 piece Noise band. I thnk some ppl here will know them.

hey don't forget Busty Duck Duck and of course Soldout, they 'll play at Boutik Rock next week.

  • David and Mo left out

what about the Glimmers / Glimmer Twins from Ghent. decades before Soulwax and Erol Alkan, they were championing disco-punk, electro-pop, mashups and playing out belgian nu-beat records...when they were actually released! oh, and Girls From Hawaii rock to!
