  Also, for a random non-black metal avant-garde metal band try Akphaezya. I don't know if you guys would consider Stormy Atmosphere an avant-garde metal band but I think that in some way they try a different approach to rock and metal.

  Maybe it's only me, but I think Sigh is taking a less avant-garde direction. Since Hangman's Hymn their music has become a lot more normal and less fresh than what it used to be. Albums like Hail Horror Hail and Imaginary Sonicscape are still on top for me in "innovation level".
