Oh there not good live? That sucks.

  • Crowded House (If I may claim them in our name....)
    1) Fall at your Feet
    2) Better be Home Soon
    3) Mean to Me
    4) Locked Out
    5) Into Temptation

    Chalice
    1) A Semblance of Sanity
    2) Abyss
    3) Solitairy Waves
    4) An Illusion to the Temproray Real
    5) A Winter in the Desert Sky

    Winterfallen
    1) Winterfallen
    2) Fog in Thickets
    3) Duskwanderer
    4) Bloodride
    5) Graves in my Fatherland

They'd be the top 3. It gets too hard after that, but Little Birdy, Missy Higgins, Abyssic Hate, Screaming Jets, Lior, Nazxul and Striborg all feature prominently.

I dunno... maybe they were having an off night plus I couldn't name any of their songs... so maybe that was a factor in my lac of enjoyment... some of the crowd seemed to like them though...

I'm not usually this patriotic but putting a new zealand band as your favourite Aussie band is unaustralian...

    shame on you!

  • The band considered themselves Australian, as only the one (permanent) member was from New Zealand and they were formed and based here. Plus, they're far too good to be considered kiwis. :D

  • Finsternis does have a point.

    lolz
  • I'd say they are an Australian/New Zealand band...

Just because a band is based here doesn't make them Australian...

Is Nick Cave British? Because I'm pretty sure thats where he is based these days... and he used to be based in Berlin...

But anyway the main creative mind behind Crowded House was a Kiwi...

Bodyjar are pretty cool too... props on including the Simon and Garfunkel cover too... Nice song...

  • Dunno why I just prefer sunk loto's earlier stuff, I saw them live the other week and they live shows aren't that great, the singer started off pretty bad but eventually it got better.

  • Very nice list, Living End, Tism, Frenzal Rhomb... Frenzal should probably be on my list somewhere, I'm seeing them on the seveth of December... It's good to see them back in action...

I would make a list of my top five Frenzal songs but it is too hard...too many good songs to choose frome...

  • I don't mind Sunk Loto, Captain Cleanoff, Shotpointblank, or Gyroscope at the moment. They're four very different bands, I know, but my tastes are pretty scattered.

    FAVOURITE RECENT FINDS:
    1. Turmion Kätilöt
    2. Fantômas

I guess you just don't know good music when you listen to it.. Whats your favourite band? Starfish?

  • I don't hate wolfmother I own the cd and have the e.p on my comp and have seen them live twice... So yeah I guess i don't know what good music is since I own the Wolfmother album...

But yeah I do have something against wolfmother.... They don't deserve their popularity.... There are so many more creative Australian bands out there such as You am I who incorporate the retro look and sound in more creative and ultimatley more artistic way. Then there are bands such as the Datsuns, Cassanovas etc who do the whole straight out reto rock thing better, even if it is't particulaly deep song-writing, they play their instruments a hell of a lot better than wolfmother, whose riffs are repetitive and dull in comparison to these bands.

See, I'm a fan of retro rock and Australian rock amongst other things and I don't think that wolfmother are a very good example of either. Wolfmother are extremely derivative of the whole 70's sound and style and yet they only pull it off half-arsed. People say they sound like Sabbath and Zeppelin but when you listen to those bands they outplay wolfmother so badly. Wolfmother really only scratch the surface of what those bands were about.

And yet I enjoy them occasionally...

So why are wolfmother so great? Is it because they are overexposed on radio and t.v.?

i think wolfmother are okay, but i hate how woman and joker and the thief are played ALL the time. like the band doesn't have any songs other than that.
