Beta done! 1.3.0.58 is live, with translations

Thanks everyone for helping us test this silly long beta. We're pretty happy with how it is currently, although clearly we'll be getting some rapid bug fix point releases out.

But it was important to get this beta out sooner rather than later, because of the new radio architecture, scrobbler protocol and bootstrapping.

It's awesome sitting in our irc channel currently and watching the bootstraps come in. New users at the rate of several a minute are getting whole profiles straight away, everything appears to be working :)

We know there are still some issues, like the 503s, the iPod scrobbling and unacceptable Vista support. Stick with us and we'll have all these things fixed over the next few weeks.

Auto-updates for non-beta users go live on Monday :)

    Max

    Huzzah!

Unfortunately, I found another thing to add to your todo list: if you remove a station, it will disappear, but the last station in the list will get duplicated.

Naturally, I had to discover this after you release :-/

    Update: patch sent.

Congrats on a nice release. I have a question:

Is there a way for someone like me, who has been on Last.fm since last year, to get my entire iTunes play history into Last.fm the way new users are? Less than 50% of my tracks played in iTunes are on Last.fm. That would be cool!

I will keep pestering you about iPod scrobbling on Mac OS X. :-)

am I the only one not seeing scrobbeled tracks with .58 appear in the web page?

  • I'm getting that same issue, actually. It seems that any tracks I play aren't appearing on the web page, but are being stored in the cache.

I'm not seeing scrobbled tracks appear in my profile either. This started earlier this afternoon with .57, so I am thinking/hoping that it is a problem with Last.fm's servers.

I sure hope they show up later since I am listening to some good stuff this afternoon. :-)

How can you tell that they are being cached?

I think the services are down tonight. Russ and co. are at Glastonbury. So we have no way of repairing it for now. So panic not. Your cache will be scrobbled when it is next possible! :)

    works like a charm here!

Good job on the new sidebar, I just love it ;).

I just found a small issue tho: when you set the window to be fullscreen, then send it to tray (by 'closing' it) and you click on the tray icon to open it again; the window just won't appear fullscreen.. it'll open up being smaller. I'm using Windows XP with "Inspiration/custom" theme.

Thanks for 1.3.0.58 :-) Installed and ready to use.
Hopefully no problems to be found (I know the 503 fix is still to do, but they only seemed to occur on changing stations, so I'll stop and wait 5 mins before starting a different station for now).

  • thanks!

Yeah is there any way to do this (or any future plan?)

  • I had to resize my sidebar again after updating.

  • I don't see a download link :/. I don't want to auto-update.

Edit: Never mind. I updated from inside the player and found the installer in my temp directory on Windows.

i don't know if if this problem is already known, but i did some searching and haven't found anything.

the point is, i had a few submissions cached by the previous non-beta version. after installing 1.3.0.58 they have been submitted but obviously with a wrong date/time since i got an error message (on my profile page) saying that i'm not able to submit tracks that have been played before i registered at last.fm. i'd like to give you some more information, but i don't tcpdump all my network traffic ;)

    but overall very nice work.

    CONFIRMING SIDEBAR RESIZE BUG!

Several tests cannot currently be made, due to Last.fm's submissions server being down today.

Although I didn't have to resize my sidebar on install (I restore the app and use the built-in install wizard dialog), I have just found it HAS now trashed the sidebar width.

    This is what happened:

After the radio claimed to be "too busy", I exited the client from the File->Exit menu, waited a short while, then opened WMP10. This reopens the client minimized-to-tray. I then started playing music locally. The Last.fm client then popped up a dialog "The Last.fm servers are temporarily overloaded, please try again in a moment." but the client frame remained miminized to tray (this is normal behaviour.)

As usual, I never click on dialogs on an unattended machine (I have a KVM which switches between 4 machines, one of which is the XP box connecting to the Net). AFTER ABOUT TEN SECONDS AN IDENTICAL DIALOG OPENED (RECURSIVELY). I then clicked on the tray icon (not on either of the dialogs -- see the link in the next post).

On clicking the tray icon, the client frame opened WITH A REDUCED WIDTH SIDEBAR!

I then (see the next post) click the SECOND dialog (leaving the first open for a few more plays).

Because you have made these dialogs modal (there is no need to, surely!) I cannot touch the client frame without closing them both! (NOTE: TWO dialogs didn't open in previous releases, except for the "Illegal Virtual Address" beta -- see link in the next post) Worse still, it now plays the Windoze DING-DONG sound every time I give the client focus because your modal dialog is still open!

(Note: I have now mapped-out the DING-DONG sound in the Windoze Sound Control Panel.)

    [Continued in next post]

    More information

Well, no illmemref on closing the second dialog (see links at end of this post).

I now close the first dialog (after playing at least one complete track -- see links) and resize the sidebar width.

First dialog closed without crashing the app.

Tried to resize the sidebar, but couldn't see an E-W mouse cursor! Had to click on the splitter bar to get one!

The "My Tags" subtree is *still* empty! Can't you cache this when your server is offline? I know I may not be able to use it to play my user tag radio, but isn't it possible for the radio streamer to be up and the profile server to be down?

The new AS is only visible if you want it too. After you've done the initial configuration, you will never have to look at it again if you don't want to. The only indication that it's there is the little user icon in the systray.

Check the "Audioscrobbler 1.2 Guidelines" about not popping up unnecessary or confusing dialogs.

In which case, why does your dialog say "The Last.fm servers are temporarily overloaded, please try again in a moment." when all I'm trying to do is play music locally on my machine? HOW DO I RETRY THAT?

When I try to open my friends stations, it opens http://www.last.fm/user/Amigos/friends/ and when I try to open my neighbours station, it goes to http://www.last.fm/user/Vizinhos/neighbours/

    Amigos is spanish for Friends,
and Vizinhos is spanish for Neighbours ;-)

Looks like they're in the wrong path position!

  • The same happens with the English version. The Friends link goes to http://www.last.fm/user/Friends/friends and the Neighbours link to http://www.last.fm/user/Neighbours/neighbours

    about local translations

    Hello,

I upgraded to 1.3.0.58 but it became local translated version which I don't prefer to use. It also doesn't have any option in the preferences. I want my English version back! :)

    Thanks.
