anarchist hip hop?

  • anarchist hip hop?

    hey,
can you recommend me any good anarchist hip hop artists?
I'd especially prefer French speaking ones, but everything else is also acceptable. ;-)

    Looptroop
They are Swedish but almost all of their songs are in English.

  • dead prez
    the coup
    clockwerk
    last poets

  • There is not so much explicitly anarchist stuff around, as for italians, I would guess microplatform and La Platforma are more like autonomous, just as older groups 99 Posse, onda rosso posse etc.

Thus I make distinction between , , and ... I am creating anarchist hip-hop, anti-authoritarian hip-hop, revolutionary hip-hop and conscious hip-hop tag radios, please join the effort!

For definitions, check out my blog profile http://revolutionary88.livejournal.com/profile

  • I don't know too much about hip-hop but I've heard about a guy named Emcee Lynx.

I can't say I'm very familiar with any of his work but he's probably worth checking out if your looking for some anarchist hip-hip.

  • Quel Est la Date (Bristol, England):

    myspace.com/theqeld

I like it, but some people seem not to. Not French, but the name is :)

They send out free CD-Rs if you message them (but that might not be worldwide) and I'd be happy to upload the songs to mediafire or something if you wanted.

The coup is Marxist, so they are political and if you are an anarcho commie (like me) it's some great shit but he may be green

    Sort Stue

Haha. Yo Lynx, good going spreading the word about Sort Stue. ;)

They only rap in Danish (and Norwegian) though, so I doubt most of the lads (and lasses) here would understand anything. And even if it was translated, it'd still be so full of references to Danish affairs, events, politics, history, etc. that it probably wouldn't mean a lot to most people not keeping up to date with Denmark anyway. :)

  • Naj one - is good rap anarchist singer

    kurzer prozess, conexion musical

did you see the stylish kids in the riot?
  • Explicitly anarchist MC's from Finland:

    Iso H (rather mainstream sound)
    Jus Aname (already inactive)

Non-explicitly, but close to squatter/activist scene:

Asa (formerly known as Avain, released most sold hip-hop album in Finland ever)
    Paleface (raps in English)

    Explicitly anarchist groups from Russia:

    Московский Освободительный Оркестр
    (Moscow liberation orchestra)
    Искусство Души Безобразной

As for Looptroop, I never read them making explicitly anarchist statements, but they are close to activist scene and Supreme has a black star tattooed to his arm... but now he is out from the group.

Whatever anarchist hip-hop you listen, please tag it as anarchist hip-hop!
That is the easiest way to share them and support the artist!

  • not exactly anarchist, but saul williams

"So here's the plan. The ides of march are always at hand. And when the power hungry strike, they strike the poorest of man. And if you dare put up a fight, they'll come and fight for your land. And they'll call it liberation or salvation. A call to the youth! Your freedom ain't so free, it's just loose. but the power of your voice could redirect every truth. Shift and shape the world you want and keep your fears in a noose. Let them dangle from a banner star spangled. I'm willing and able. To lift my dreams up out of their cradle. Nurse and nurture my ideals 'til they're much more than a fable. I can be all I can be and do much more than I'm paid to. And I won't be a slave to what authorities say do. My desire is to live within a nation on fire, where creative passions burn and raise the stakes ever higher. Where no person is addicted top some twisted supplier who promotes the sort of freedom sold to the highest buyer. We demand a truth naturally at one with the land, not a plant that photosynthesizes bombs on demand, or a search for any weapons we let fall from our hands. I got beats and a plan. I'm gonna do what I can. And what you do is question everything they say do, every goal ideal or value they keep pushing on you. If they ask you to believe it question whether it's true. If they ask you to achieve, is it for them or for you. You're the one they're asking to go carry a gun. Warfare ain't humanitarian. You're scaring me, son. Why not fight to feed the homeless, jobless, fight inflation?! Why not fight for our own healthcare and our education?! And instead, invest in that erasable lead, 'cause their twisted propaganda can't erase all the dead. And the pile of corpses pyramid on top of our heads. Or nevermind, said the shotgun to the head. "
