    Your favorite Amorphis album?

So, what is your favorite album?

    -The Karelian Isthmus
    -Tales from the Thousand Lakes
    -Elegy
    -Tuonela
    -Am Universum
    -Far from the Sun
    -Eclipse

Tales from the Thousand Lakes gets my vote.
    You?

  • Best album

I think Tuonela is the best and Eclipse the second. These are the best, but others are coming in the same line, not much behind.

  • Tales from the Thousand Lakes is a masterpiece and it's their best album IMO.And it's one of my top 10 favourite albums.

Eclipse. It's their most consistent, yet most versatile album, and a true masterpiece.

Elegy is number two, and Tuonela number three.

  • i like Tales from the Thousand Lakes the most... their new era reminds me of Opeth a lot, it's good but the older is better

  • I like Eclipse and Elegy very much!

my name is Ted, indifferent to laws I strangle and maim women
January 4, ramming the betrod into her cattered vagina
Incapable, defined is the hatred that lead to this carnage
Victims are idealized, a predestined massacre
Invaginated by the bedrod, crushing the uterus
  • eclipse, elegy, tales...

  • Eclipse and TFTL are my favs. People, tell your fav track (just 1) from your fav Amo albums, please. :)
    But my favs are:
Eclipse: Under a Soil and Black Stone
Tales From the Thousand Lakes: Castaway

"I think I would ehm, sing a lil song for u guys..."
  • eclipse: the smoke
    elegy: my kantele
    tftl: black winter day

  • E&E :D

  • Tumeling

    Tuonela: The Way
    Eclipse: hmmmmm... Empty Opening

TKE: The Lost Name of God
TftTL: Into Hiding / To Father's Cabin
    Elegy: My Kantele
    Tuonela: The Way
    AU: Alone
Eclipse: Perkele (The God of Fire) / The Smoke

I omitted FftS, since I have no real 'favorite' on that album. All tracks there are kind of average.

  • They are all good, I have them all ;).

  • Best songs:
    The Karelian isthmus: Black embrance
Tales from the thousands lakes: Drowned maid
    Elegy: Elegy
    Tuonela: Tuonela
    Am universum: Alone
Far from the sun: Day of your beliefs
    Eclipse: Brother moon

First place is definitely given to Tales...
But Elegy and Tuonela are great too! it's hard to choose between them...

Isthmus and the later albums are at the same position but lower... imho

The best is Elegy, but I also really like Eclipse. I think it has something in connection with Elegy

Okay, so now when I know their whole catalogue pretty well, I decided to update my album ranking a bit:

(with ratings from my RYM account)
    1. Elegy 5/5
    2. Tuonela 4.5/5
    3. TftTL 4.5/5
    4. Silent Waters 4.5/5
    5. Eclipse 4/5
    6. TKI 4/5
    7. Am Universum 3.5/5
    8. FftS 2/5

Quite solid band, yeah. I haven't given many other bands this many 4+ ratings.

  • My favorite would have to be Tales from the Thousand Lakes. I don't think any other album since then has had that much experimentation. Their new album sounds promising also!
