Howdy y'all. How's the summer festival season looking for Americana music? Where's your must-see shows? The little-known or new-tho-the-scene festivals?
OK, yeah, other than Telluride. We all know about Telluride. And MerleFest. Unless of course you have pictures or video or Sam Bush's favorite mandolin strings. Then tell us about Telluride or Merlefest. :)
Let us know in time to put in for time-off. Oh, heck, a music festival good enough to travel for is probably worth just quitting that day job anyway!

Mrs.Jess of rockabilly-apparel fame recommends the Bill Monroe Bean Blossom Festival in June. They say: Nestled in the beautiful hills of Brown County in Southern Indiana, is a little slice of heaven called Bean Blossom. Bill Monroe fell in love with this small town, and the property he owned, calling it his home away from home for more than forty years. Once you visit, you too will experience the magic of Bean Blossom. Personally, I think they might want to be a bit more specific about the location for us out-of-towners (like a map, that would be nice), but the line-up is extensive enough you could probably just follow the music once you get close. Sample: Mountain Heart Larry Sparks Lonesome River Band Michael Cleveland IIIRD Tyme Out Cherryholmes Tony Rice Ralph Stanley and many more.
I've heard of this bit of Bill Monroe's heritage, certainly seems worth a few days of June.
Recommended by bleds, the No Depression Festival is back this year, Aug. 21, 2010, at Marymoor Park in Redmond, Wash.
Lineup announced this week, general ticket sales open 1 May (Saturday)--if you can't wait that long, go poke around NoDepression.com and you'll find the deal on presales.
A bit to the progressive side, but that's kinda where No Depression had been going before they left the dead-tree-business behind. And I have to confess I have NO idea who the anchor tenants Swell Season are. Guess I'm gonna go look 'em now.
