I have delayed upgrading to kde 4.x for a long time because of the known troubles with Amarok in kde 4.x. I have just upgraded to Mandriva spring 2010 (was on the latest Mandriva with Kde 3.x). I jumped to Amarok 2.3.1 (kde 4.4.3). Generally it does the most for me as 1.4 did. After getting some used to it I like the current layout. The new way of generating playlists is more powerful then the old way. Last.fm integration improved a little. @ 1.4 only scrobbling worked for me, (no love track, no streaming radio etc.). Now at 2.3.1 all of last FM integration works except for playing. It spins round fetching a new track every 2 seconds. I have to kill Amarok to stop it. It uses Gstream as backend. Other internet radio stations just play. When rehearsing for my band I use Ubuntu Studio 10.04 with Rythmbox, last.fm is not ok there too. It plays a set of 6 songs from a last.fm radio stream and repeats that. So I use the lastfm scrobbler to play streams on any Linux platform.

Peace Day - August 15 The purpose for this day is simple. It will be a day for the entire population of the world to serve and celebrate Peace. This Peace Day is for the People by the People. We do not represent Nations, or Political ideologies. We are simply people joining together to spread Kindness and Peace. like John Lennon, give peace a chance... Perhaps if there is any interest an International Music for Peace could be initiated from LastFM, over the next few days. See http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=140041816013658&topic=187

Hey guys, found a great little Ruby script to export your stats from Last.fm to Amarok, very handy if something happens to your DB on your computer. http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php?action=content&content=127016

I'd sad to say I've abandoned ship. Amarok got so slow and sluggish that I totally gave up on it. I'm now using Exaile, which has about 5% of the features of Amarok, but at least I don't have to wait 5 to 10 mins between I start the program and the moment it starts playing... Amarok got too ridiculous for me to use it, I'm afraid to say.

After a month or more of Amarok 2.3.0 I noticed that I don't seem to be finding any of the issues I had previously. Nothing in the library seems to be disappearing on me without notice. The only issue that I don't like is that when I try to double click a song in the library that is already in the playlist it adds the song to the playlist, but moves back to the previous version of the song in the playlist and plays that one. Seems like the wrong type of behaviour. Very minor though. This program has improved to the point that I am quite happy with it.

I could do that, but in order to have my Amarok 1.4.10 working properly i had to do a looooot of things; so, i don't want to lose all that job if happens that Amarok 2.3.1 does not "remember" the songs i play. Thanks anyway.

Hi! I have a question. I used to use Amarok 2.2, but it did not remember my stats. I could play a song 30 times, but that stats were lost. Is that problem yet in Amarok 2.3.1?

Hehe another Slackware user ;-) For me, using the file renamer is a crime because it sometimes loses, as in really *deletes* tracks, changes the order, or messes with them in other ways. Seems a bit like the thing you experienced with 2.1 diamondsandrain, but for me it's still there with 2.3. The rest is pretty much usuable. Still though, they said QT4/KDE4 would have significant speedups; yet on my 6 year old computer the interface feels more sluggish than before. Guess I should open a bug report about the random deletion of files, but it's so undeterministic that I don't know how to.

Nice feature in 2.3 but not in 2.1. When you clear the playlist while playing a song and put new songs in it, it is smart enough to start playing at the beginning of the playlist again instead of just stopping. Me like.

I want Amarok 1.4 on QT4. Clementine is fine, but still lacks some features.
