  • My choice

My favourite is "Fall From Grace," because it shows how love will overcome all of the inhibitions and fears that might otherwise block a relationship.

    Fall From Grace

The WB show, "Dawson's Creek", featured her song "Fall From Grace".

Here are the lyrics of "Fall From Grace"

    Lost inside this angeltown
Lost like I could not be found
    No connections of the heart
Love was glass that broke apart
    Gimme faith in dreams
    And someone to hold
Gimme love 'cause I'm out here in the cold
    There are no secrets
    No angels at my door

    Chorus:
And oh, when you touch my hand
    I fall from grace
And oh, when you reach for me
    I fall from grace

    On a steeltown boulevard
    Life's a promise that doesn't last
    Resurrections of the past
Children come and are gone so fast
    So gimme faith in love
    Baby tonight
Gimme arms to hold you here so tight
    There are no secrets
    No angels at my door

    Chorus repeat

My favorite Amanda Marshall song is "Dark Horse".

    Dark Horse

This song speaks of the unconquerable love for a person's true soul mate. Love is something to be felt, not measured. It is the electric spark between two hearts that says, "You're the one". This love may not make sense to others. Huge obstacles may lie in its way that threatened to tear it a part. True love though is sacred. It perseveres against all odds. It is worth whatever the struggle. In the end true love will find its way.

    Dark Horse

    Indian summer
    Abilene
    You were new in town
    I was nineteen
    And sparks flew
    They called us crazy
    Behind our backs
    "Romantic fools"
    We just let them laugh
    Because we knew
It may be a long shot
We may be lonely down the line
    But love knows no reason
And I won't let them make up my mind

    Chorus:
My money's riding on this dark horse, baby
My heart is sayin' it's the lucky one
And it's true color's gonna shine through someday
    If we let this
    Let this dark horse run

    Stars are brighter
    In a desert sky
    No need to wonder
    Or justify
    Where this will lead
    I wear your locket
    Our picture's inside
Inscription says, "The joy's in the ride"
    And I believe
    Something so sacred
Is something worth this kind of fight
    Cause love knows no patience
You can't please everyone all the time

    Chorus

    So rare
    So sweet
    Together baby
    We can be free

    Chorus repeat

    Indian summer
    Abilene
    You were new in town
    I was nineteen

My favourite song is Beautiful Goodbye followed very closely by Wishful Thinking.

Such a special song to me as it was the song that me and a previous girlfriend played (on repeat) when I dropped of her off at the airport after our first summer together. I was to stay in the UK and she was going home to Austria.

We did get by on Wishful Thinking and I visited her that winter and she returned the following summer...

Hey Martin, Those are special reasons fo have them as favorite songs. One of the things that I love about Amanda's music is her ability to touch the hearts of her audience. Her songs involve experiences that most people can relate to. Thanks for responding! Alicia

    Favourite song(s)

I could never just pick one song. But my top picks are... If I Didn't Have You, Believe in You, Beautiful Goodbye, and Let it Rain (in that order). These songs have been in my playlists for years... and will continue to be for many years to come.

I remember this video (If I didn't Have You) when it first came out, so many years ago.

    Hey Clifford,
Amanda has so many great songs that it can be hard to have just one favorite. I think a lot depends on whether or not you have experienced the emotion of a particular song. I really like all four that you listed. "Beautiful Goodbye" is so well done, that it actually makes me sad listening to it. I will have to look for the "If I Didn't Have You" video.
Thanks for responding and for your friendship.

Birmingham and Dark Horse are my favorites. Those are the first two songs that I heard on the radio enough to want to find out more about the artist. She's a powerful lyricist - every song tells a story - and her voice suits her songs. I didn't know she'd gotten a new record deal.
