I LOVE Country music, but I meet few people who love it, yet alone accept it. I wish they would. I prefer Alt-Country Rock , I dont like most mainstream Country. Maybe people dont understand what they're missing out on. Graham Parsons was great !
A lot of it is straight prejudice against the core market for Country music:
1) Bias against the American South 2) Bias against the Republican party 3) Bias against conservative Christianity
But there is a good reason to hate a lot of Country: The record companies treat the music in a Disney-like way. A lot of commercial Country is trying to look back on a world that has either gone by or never existed. It doesn't feel real. When people do stuff that reflects real life, it is quite popular.
Alt country is great and there are a lot of good songs and even some good albums of mainstream stuff as well. You just have to drop your bias and listen for yourself.
