  • Welcome - How did you discover Aarni?

All fans of Aarni, Welcome to the Group.

Back in 2003 I searched for Doom Metal on the now-defunct mp3.com. Obviously one of the 1st ones showing up was Aarni, with The Weird of Vipunen and Myrryrs. Ever since I am hooked on Aarni.

  • i was wandering on last.fm and somehow got to Aarni
that's the most useful thing about last.fm
    searching almost randomly

so much is lost in silence

I was surfing on the site of firebox records some years ago, as some bands I like were signed there at that time. Aarni sounded like a nice name for band and after seeing the awesome front cover of Bathos i decided to check the band out.

I also found it in the tubes.

Bathos was recommended on http://thegauntlet.com forum as the most psychedelic "metal" I would ever hear. It did not disappoint.

  • I found Aarni through one of Bergatroll's journal thingys, wewtness for that.

  • Aarni found me.

  • I kept finding traces of Aarni at all kinds of weird places - split with Umbra Nihil, Skepticism tribute album, lower parts of the 23rd dimension... it's just like the sound wanted to be found. So I played it. Things have not been the same ever since.

  • I found Aarni on last.fm, a month ago.

  • I found Aarni through www.doom-metal.com and their album of the month recommendations(or was it week?).

Anyhow, Bathos was listed, and I just had to find it based on that cover art.

    this was years ago :)

    I like the sopor85's answer ;>

One of Polish metal tabloids which I've skimmed through in media-pop-culture-holy-shit-shop long, really long time ago contained an interview with Aarni's crew.
I could'nt pass over this cos I catched a Kalisti Apple typical for Discordians.
That's why I've checked, eaten and I've got really marvellous burps now. %D~

I first heard Aarni on mp3.com, many years ago.

  • I found Aarni on doom-metal.com and when I heard Bathos I feel like resurrected H. P. Einstein! :-o

  • I discovered Aarni as an infant after I fell on my head from my highchair.

"Sometimes, in the throes of a nightmare when unseen powers whirl one over the roofs of strange dead cities towards the grinning chasm of Nis, it is a relief and even a delight to shriek wildly and throw oneself voluntarily along with the hideous vortex of dream-doom into whatever bottomless gulf may yawn." -HPL
  • Posted a thread on Encyclopedia Metallium to get recommendations to bands similar to Upsidedown Cross (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeL24xz0HK4) and they recommended me Aarni.

  • Aarni contacted me by telepathy back then in 2009. So, this is how I have discovered it
