"The internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material." - Ted Stevens
This group is dedicated to the artists and bands who are more popular on the Internet than anywhere else, the songs that are more likely to be heard in a flash cartoon than on CD, and last but not least the 1000s of unheard bands who put their songs online for free because they're proud of what they've created.
Some of the artists made famous on the Internet:
God Ate My Homework - One of the first bands to become known by offering their songs online. They had a sort of Internet hit with their song I Saw Bill Gates (on IRC).
Lemon Demon - A more recent artist who gained popularity with his song The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, which was featured in a Flash cartoon. He is also well known for his song Ebaum's World Dot Com.
Loituma - A Finnish folk band who got a lot of attention when the improvised vocal interlude from their song Ievan Polkka was featured in a small Flash animation of an anime girl spinning a leek.
Group-X - A comedy band who claim to be from Saudi Arabia. A number of their songs have been made into Flash cartoons, the most popular of which is Mario Twins.
Beatallica - A parody/tribute band of Metallica & The Beatles, who release their music freely online.
Adam and Andrew - A couple of guys who put their bad but hilarious music online and had an Internet hit with their song Emo Kid.
Brent Simon - A self proclaimed nerd who uses a synthesizer to make songs about all things geeky, the most popular of which is Space Camp.
O-Zone - The band famous for the "numa numa" song.
