Vote #4: Alexander O'Neal vs Freddie Jackson

    Hi all 80s R&B/Soul members!

Sorry about the gap between this vote and vote #3, I've been daydreaming for the past few weeks, lol!

This week, it's Alexander O'Neal vs Freddie Jackson, surely one good fight for who's best, eh?

    Alexander O'Neal

Born in 1953 in Natchez, Mississippi. Alexander O'Neal has had numerous top 10 R&B hits, mainly in the mid to late 80s, the biggest being Criticize, Never Knew Love Like This(with Cherrelle), Saturday Love(with Cherrelle) and Fake. Alexander was originally in the band The Time but due to a disagreement with Prince, he left and his true success was as a solo artist. He did a number of duets with Cherrelle throughout his solo career.

    Freddie Jackson

Freddie Jackson was born in 1956 in Harlem, New York and was an important figure in R&B throughout most of the 1980s and early 1990s. He had numerous hits including Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake), You Are My Lady, Have You Ever Loved Somebody and Jam Tonight.

So you've got until next Thursday to vote for who you think deserves to win the vote of best 80s R&B artist of the week!

    All the best,

    ted :~)

Wow. This one's difficult because I'm not crazy about either one. Since I only like O'Neal's "If You Were Here Tonight" but I do like Freddie's "You Are My Lady," "Jam Tonight" and "Love Me Down" -- I'm goin' with Freddie.

  • Difficult, Freddie for a better feeling of rythm ?
    :)

  • Freddie Jackson

  • Easy for me, Alexander O'Neal! Maybe I should check out Freddie Jackson better, but Alex got helluva voice.

  • I love "If You Were Here Tonight" and "Sunshine" but "Rock Me Tonight", "I Don't Want to Lose Your Love" and "You Are My Lady" are classics so my vote is for Freddie Jackson.

  • Without a doubt, I am going with Alexander O'Neal on this one. From his slow jams to his up-tempo hits like Fake and Criticize, he's got it all the way 'round!

You so ugly, you look like you got superpowers...

    Alex

  • Alexander O'neal

Has to be Alexander for his Jam and Lewis sound and his vocals. Close though :)

I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

  • I like Freddie Jackson and "Nice 'N' Slow" but Alexander O'Neal, absolutely!!!
    I love Alex

  • I cannot decide. Both are good.

  • I love Alexander O'Neal, what a smooth and sexy voice, and what's about the jams? Oh, he's the man! Good, typical flavour of R&B 80s
