350 parts per million (PPM) of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in Earth's atmosphere is the highest sustainable level to prevent runaway "Climate Change" or Global Warming . We're already past that threshold and need to cut back on CO@ emissions. http://www.350.org/ calls for actions involving the number 350. Challenge: last.fm community, name 350 songs about Global Warming. Post suggestion here in the shoutbox and we'll put together a playlist. The Introduction discussion topic (http://www.last.fm/group/350+Songs+About+Global+Warming/forum/104456/_/442095) includes the list of songs so far, and the playlist is being assembled at (http://www.last.fm/user/nhpeacenik/library/playlists/1v8f8_350_songs_about_global_warming_%2528under_construction%2529)

The 350.org campaign was aimed at influencing the Worldwide Climate Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark (http://en.cop15.dk/), December 7-18, 2009. Worldwide events were timed for the middle of the conference. Despite heroic efforts leading up to the conference, and delegations of concerned citizens in Copenhagen from around the world, the conference was a dissapointment. In Fall 2009, there were 5200 demonstrations in favor of 350 ppm in 181 countries. This year 350.org has planned a global work day on 10/10/10 (October 10, 2010) where thousands of people will do some form of work to move the world toward 350 ppm in some way, small or large. See 350.org/oct10/ for details.

Anne-Marie Sanderson's latest video (The Times that We Live In by Kane Cunningham (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQiuYNmAAVg) is about a house that is likely to be washed away due to rising sea levels. It is beautifully performed and has an important message, linking it with the worldwide threat of global warming to coastal communities.

Sadly, it looks like a playlist on last.fm isn't worth much anymore, since all that will play is 30-second samples. We need to rethink how to do this... hmmm. Has anybody seen "Sizzle" yet (http://sizzlethemovie.com/). It's playing here at Lowell next week.

Hello, everyone! I'm starting a list of sustainability-, environmentalism-, et cetera-related songs on a page for an environmental club at my college. Your contributions would be most welcome! The list is sorted by musical genre, with the specific topic of each entry following it. http://ecologic.union.rpi.edu/wiki/Music

Hey... there is one metal song that you cannot miss Global Warming by the French band Gojira http://www.last.fm/music/Gojira/From+Mars+to+Sirius/Global+Warming Actually a lot of their songs if not most of them are environmentalist themed. "...I had this dream, our planet surviving..."

if you trying to brush off "global warming" as a result of milankovitch cycles, don't even bother. while the planet has had numerous "natural" warm periods, there's clear evidence that global warming taking place now is anthropogenic, i.e. we definitely started it. getting climate change legislation won't be easy especially because many are discouraged by the fact that cessation won't be rapid. it doesn't help that we're completely addicted to fossil fuel consumption. however, climate change legislation is an effective step that must be taken because something beneficial needs to be done before it's too late instead of doing nothing at all. i do not support nuclear energy. while the energy output of nuclear is good, its waste poses enormous problems. regarding carbon taxes: i support "cap and cash back" (NOT "cap and trade") -- money from government-run carbon auctions go directly to consumers, protecting low- and middle-income families from the effects of rising energy prices.

I suggest that we all bone up on the arguments of global-warming deniers such as Houjuu by going to: http://www.astronomynotes.com/solarsys/s11b.htm Where a list of answers to the questions he/she poses can be found. I am personally no fan of nuclear power, but the underlying problem is real. We have to deal with it urgently

Global warming is a lie, reinforced by economic leaders and USA to push nuclear energy and justify their future carbon taxes over the nations. Weather changes are normal and have happened on earth for millions of years, humans have nothing to do with it. It's ok to worry about our planet, and our damages to nature are real, but global warming is not one of them. It's related to the sun and the earth's position in the galaxy, we didn't start it and we can't stop it. http://www.climatesceptics.com.au/climate-change.html

Outstanding idea! I coudn't miss out on this list since I have made a song about global warming myself. Hope that it can be added to the list! I'll let the other members of last.fm be the judge of that. The song builds up slowly, so give it a little time : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KjMxkScMuk The mp3 can be bought on amazon or itunes, just search for "forgetting home". Thanks /Joach
