For last.fm users born in 1978 ...

If you were born in 1978, this usually means you wrote your first papers on a type writer, bought LPs, and remember when CDs dethroned cassette tapes. If I said "ditto," you would remember the nasty smell and blue smears, and you may have actually worn bell bottoms for a few years as a lil' guy. You prolly remember DOS, 5 and 1/4 disKs, and the command line. You know of the time when the internet wasn't confused with the web, and when a bbs was state of the art, and much better than a web-log, or blog. The first test tube baby was born, the peak of disco and its inevitable death, the start of punk and new wave, and the birth and domination of hip-hop. And let us not forget NWOBHM, Eddie, and the great movie Heavy Metal which came out a few years later. In short, 1978 is a radical year that started an entire new generation of thought, music, and culture.

No lie, last night I had to explain to someone why the kids were smelling the syllabus Mr Hand passed out in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". Oh, post-ditto generations, your toner stink will never compare.
