After the Jump is the joint effort of 20 New York City music bloggers, founded last year in support of under-funded city school music programs. This summer on June 21st, After the Jump will be partnering with Make Music NY to throw their second annual festival. With over 40 emerging bands performing on four free stages, ATJF will be taking over the Music Hall of Williamsburg, Galapagos Art Space and Brooklyn’s North 6th street itself, all day and night.
As recently recommended in Pitchfork's Guide to Summer Festivals, this year’s evening benefit portion at the Music Hall of Williamsburg features: Health, Titus Andronicus, XXXChange, Project Jenny, Project Jan, Mixel Pixel and Pattern is Movement. Tickets are $10 advance/$12 day of show and proceeds go to charity.
During the day, ATJF’s free stages feature: Pela, Ponytail, Bryan Scary & the Shredding Tears, Wakey!Wakey!, Chairlift, The Swimmers, papercranes, The Antlers…

Eden's Arrow were pretty good, simple rock. idk what to say about them.
The Stock Market Crash were pretty emo. Too emo for me, but they played well and were definitely tasteful.
Then papercranes omfg i love papercranes they rock so much and Rain sings so well and Dave drums so well and the band really meshed well too and it was great yeah.
I approached Dave, also of Textual and The Mercury Program and introduced myself and told him that he's part of a three way tie for first place for my favorite drummer, the other two being John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea and Cake, Gastr Del Sol, etc) and Johnny Vidacovich (Astral Project among others). Dave looks sort of like my uncle.

I've seen several more local bands, like Morningbell, Inuit Jargon, Nim Sum, Building the State, etc multiple times, and Machine Drum once. Also I got to see The Mercury Program, who rock liek so hard omfg I love them. Also I saw Textual, of course. And a little earlier I saw Deerhoof, heh they're teh awesome too. Good shows, good shows. I really really want to see papercranes though, I missed them last weekend, I've been looking forward to seeing them sometime since their singer sings with Textual.
