  • I think it's incredible, it has their biggest sound since A Storm in Heaven, it has the same bravery had back in the early 1990's. There are times when it drags on but the best parts are just epic.
  • I read so much shit about that album (not based on Of course it's not far from known pop-structures. Here they are only stretched out, sometimes even highlighted in the refrains. But...aside from that, I really like it, could be much more shoegazing, but well done, great sound and impressive guitar-layers.
  • Don't forget about Mover, PermntStarlight.
  • Underrated, but I REALLY wish they'd included the b-sides which are amazing (e.g. Ma Ma Soul, Muhammad Ali, Blue Pacific Ocean, Major Force, etc.)
  • very powerful cover
  • As good as Urban Hymns.
  • I'm glad they got back together long enough to record this. It's nice. It might not be quite as good as their earlier material, but it fits into their catalog nicely.
  • it's not as good as their previous albums but "fourth" contains their best track ever done and it's called "Columbo".
  • A masterpiece.
  • Not the masterpiece that 'A Storm In Heaven' was, but still a great album.
  • please repeat again!
  • Not the masterpiece that hymns was, but still a great album.
  • Judas and Numbness are probably the best of this album
  • @ mirrorball95 This is proof that I am not blowing smoke out my butt. *** The Verve Biography *** The Verve (originally Verve) is an English alternative rock band. The band was formed in 1989 at Winstanley College, Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones and drummer Peter Salisbury. Simon Tong later became a member. The band originally split in 1995, but reunited in 1996 to great commercial success. They split once more in April 1999. The band reunited once more in June of 2007, but this reunion was short lived and the band split again in August 2009.Discography * A Storm in Heaven – (21 June 1993) #27 (UK) * * A Northern Soul – (3 July 1995) #13 (UK) * * Urban Hymns – (29 September 1997) #1 (UK) #23 (U.S.) * * Forth – (25 August 2008)
  • @ EoAlto AND @ Rashcroft !!!! Unless I am sadly mistaken "A Storm In Heaven" was their only full Shoegaze LP. By the time of "A Northern Soul" They were making a shift into the Britpop Realm. By the time of "Urban Hymns" the change was total . This LP seems to be a very happy medium of Britpop, Rock with a twist of Gaze. (At least I like to think so ) This is the only album I don't own yet ,so I haven't heard it that much. @ mirrorball95 If The Verve had never reformed then "Urban Hymns" would never have been recorded . And per your statement If " Fourth " Is their only bad LP ,that means you liked "Urban Hymns" . You need to think about things like that before making rash statements .
  • I purchased this album japan edition with bonus tracks!!! i never buy cds but this album is an exception :)
  • Pop ? Are fuckin' insane ? Shit ? :D...Sorry. I want to tell you some bad things, but i really dont know how, cause i dont know how to speak to retarded ones
  • The only album I like from The Verve!
  • Long, but brilliant album. It calms me.
  • @whowhawhere: Good idea and great running order. Personally I would reverse Major Force and Chic Dub. I always thought Major Force would be such a powerful opening.
  • @ ethan_pl You forgot the rest of the CD ! = ( This CD Is Solid Awesome. I Like it better than everything except A Storm In Heaven Then A Nortern Soul come right after this for me... Ahh , It's all good stuff .Doesn't matter which order I put it in.... I love it all.
  • Bad record?Ashcroft solo stuff? Come on! Sit + Wonder, Judas, Numbness, Columbo, Appalachian Springs, that's what you call Ashcroft stuff? For me this album is nearly perfect blend of The Verve we used to know and the new, more 'jammy', slighlty jazzier one. This album is spectacular.
  • Can it get any better!? hope these guys come back and make another amazing album like this one!
  • The verve should have been one of those bands who never reformed as with this they added to their back catalogue their only bad album :(.
  • Brilliant comeback
  • Product of God :) Especially Appalachian Springs ...
  • appalachian springs, one of the best ever!!!!! love it!!!!
  • great album!, i really like it:)
  • Great! Like from another world
  • amazing album, much better than Hymns.
  • awesome album!
  • BLZ nunca oulvi o album ? e agora compensa ?
  • I really LOVE this album..
  • great album :D
  • а мне альбом очень очень понравился. все песни просто супер.
  • was expecting more, reminds me too much of Ashcrofts solo stuff, which can be a good and bad thing, but either way still doesnt feel like the Verve to me. I could barely find Mccabe on this album
  • Звучание здесь хотя и сильно отличается от прежних The Verve, оно более электронное, но всё равно талантливо!
  • Yeah, criminally underrated.
  • my second favorite album of the verve
  • underrated!
  • How many tears must I taste?
  • Finally they're back. Good thing Rich was there in the meantime
  • Love this album...Sit and Wonder and Rather Be. Lose myself.
  • Love this album...Sit and Wonder and Rather Be. Lose myself.
  • "Appalachian Springs" & "I See Houses": Two of the best songs to be forged upon the unforgiving anvil of this dismal decade.
  • Favorite track off this is "Judas": all the classic Verve elements are here: dreamy, psych guitar work, a groovy beat and Ashcroft's heart-felt lyrics. Great live band (saw them in 1996 when "Urban Hymns" came out) -- hope to see them live again.
  • numbness is fuckin awesome :)
  • Rather Be has to be one of the most perfectly written songs ever, in terms of vocal notes. Hat off, good job guys in immortallizing yourselves with this in the mix of the other timeless tracks you knocked up.
  • I can't believe Columbo is the least played track =S
  • Good, not great but hell this is The Verve afterall, just to have these dudes playing again is fine with me. Good to see a great fan base here. I have always enjoyed The Verve's music.
