21 fév. 2008, 4h00m par OnionPalacIt's a shame how with so much music being so easily accessible through the internet these days that more and more people are not devoting enough time to great albums. I often hear about people simply listening to one album, if that, and then moving on to the next bundle of files they downloaded without much of a chance of the previous albums being returned to multiple times to become part of that person's life. Where I come from we would call these people posers.
I encourage everyone to actually listen to the albums that speak to them. Return to them many times and live them.
Below I made a few lists of music that meant a lot to me in 2007.
These are lists for music that:
*was released in 2007 that I fell in love with
*I discovered and fell in love with in 2007, but was released in another year
*I rediscovered and fell in love with again in 2007. I tried to keep this down to music I have not listened to for ten years or more.

Standing on a Hummingbird
Rising above the glut of glitch artists springing up like weeds making it impossible to keep up with.
This didn't work as a whole album for me. I can't help but hear the influences from different Radiohead era's making it feel disjointed albeit "All I Need" is one of the top 5 tracks they've ever done.
If you're needing a Biosphere fix...
It's On Everything
Two great albums from this guy this year.
Do Make Say Think
You, You're A History In Rust
Great band. Better live
Slow down!!! This is like 3 (maybe 4) albums this year.
Leave Now for Adventure
Mmm, crunchy beats.

A quick post whilst I try and work my way through the impossible task of deciding what my favourite albums of 2007 where. In a year when I’ve heard more music than ever before there has been a glut of essential listens, how I will get it down to 20 I don't know, how I’ll arrange them into some kind of order will be harder still but hopefully it will be up soon, better late than never :)
Meanwhile four songs to keep you going
Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Me & My Imagination
I have no shame in admitting that i have been a fan of Miss Ellis-Bextor from the start, i remember in a stint of working at Sainsbury's Petrol Station we begun selling CD's and amongst the first batch was Read My Lips, a CD I have the case for but can't find the disc :( Everyone who i made sit through it hated every minute but for me she stood out amongst the mainstream, the singles Take Me Home and Murder on the Dancefloor where stupidly catchy, other tracks showed a deeper side to her writing. …

1. Stars of the Lid – And Their Refinement Of The Decline
Some people might argue that Stars Of The Lid’s unique work hasn’t changed much over the years. But listen closely, and you’re likely to notice the progression in their compositions. Without ever telling you what to feel, these delicately crafted sounds are able to evoke a whole range of different emotions, depending on each listener. Every little change becomes a grand and sweeping event and despite its common classification as background music, it demands your full attention.
This is, without a doubt, the most compelling and rewarding listening experience I’ve had this year.
2. A Broken Consort – Box Of Birch
I read about Richard Skelton and his Sustain Release label in some Wire issue about a year ago. Although my interest was piqued, I completely forgot about him until I came across this release on ‘The Cookshop’ blog. Needless to say, I was in awe and craving for more after being sucked into this magical world for the first time.
