"No-one leaps across genres like RJD2. A firm advocate of not standing in place, his albums touch multiple continents, time periods and movements. Yet it’s a “jack of all trades” situation. Every angle he tries is slightly skewed, not quite at the level of his peers. ‘A New Theory’ could be Venetian Snares, ‘We Come Alive’ might be Carlos Santana, ‘A Portal Inward’ even resembles Clint Mansell. Krohn is always 2 or 3 rungs below his influence."
