Bought this album in 1986 on vinyl, my first Queensrÿche album. It took me about 10 listens to really get into it and really love it. Never stop listen to it after that and QR is my best band since that time. Neue Regel and Screaming in Digital are the best for me. It's my third favorite QR album after Mindcrime and Promised Land.
I came across the guys back in the early 80's. They were ( I believe) promoting their album the warning, supporting Dio (another great voice). I met them walking through town, normal guys, stopped for a chat, seemed really cool.
That evening they blew me away with
Later that year they released Rage for Order. I was used to listening to Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy etc with their twin lead guitars. Here were two guys playing axes like Gilmour, Blackmour, Sykes feeling just oozed from their finger tips. It was an aural assault of magnificent proportions. I think I drove all of my friends mad (introducing them to this 'new band'). When they played Dublin again for Rage for Order it was like a home coming.
Have nec=ver stopped listening to them, Mindcrime and Empire each beautifully crafted and some amazing songs but these searing blistering combination of guitars, drums and vocals set a new standard for metal in the 80s.... I don't believe it has been equalled since.
