5 jui. 2008, 22h01m par musictwigA friend of mine was talking about going through celebrity playlists and wondering why anybody would even care what whatever random celebrity was listening to. Anyhoo, she said she was more interested in what her friends were listening to... so here's my celebrity playlist, since I just know I'm a celebrity somewhere! lol
Bif Naked - My Greatest Masterpiece I just discovered that Bif released a new single last year and I missed it! It's a dark little love song. She's fighting breast cancer right now, so send off some healing vibes for her, 'kay?
Dragonette - True Believer This whole album is good, and extremely different from lead singer Martina Sorbara's solo work, which she now calls "tampon music". lol
Lesbians On Ecstasy - The Pleasure Principal This is more a re-working than a cover of Rough Trade's High School Confidential. It makes me laugh. All of their stuff is re-workings, or maybe twistings is a better word, of other people's music. No straight ahead covers here.

15 mars 2007, 10h35m par hotchk155Electric Six at Engine Room, Brighton, Tue 13 Mar 2007
I couldn't resist this one... I've loved Electric Six since my first encounter with Fire a few years back and the chance to see them in Brighton's tiny Engine Room (a little bit bigger than my front room) was too good to pass up. And disappoint they didn't...
Electric Six ride that fine line between funny and stupid very well and they rock! Dick Valentine is incredibly entertaining, uncool to such an degree that is very cool indeed. Surrounded by the rest of the band with their shades and serious fixed expressions Valentine engaged in overblown mike posturing, inane grinning and the occasional bout of banging his head against the wall at the back of the stage. Every now and then he'd stop and squint past the lights into the crowd (all of several inches away) with a can't-believe-they-all-dig-me-so-much grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
Of course the old favorites; Danger! High Voltage and Gay Bar…
11 mars 2007, 0h09m par LouisLloydYup, as the title would lead you to believe, over the past week, I have shown up for 4 concerts over the course of 4 days - setting a new record for Señor Lloyd...
My tale begins last monday (5th March) when I headed up to beautiful Wolverhampton to catch a bit of metal God's in the making Mastodon. 'Twas a bit of a long journey up there, but I still got there in time to catch the majority of support-band Saviours and Im jolly glad I did as although I had never heard of them previously, they played a rockin' set! Then after a stereotypical Metal band entrance, Mastodon came out and literally shook the Wulfrun Hall! It was only after second song in their set and brutal album opener The Wolf Is Loose that the crowd really got going! After playing pretty much every track from their newest masterpiece Blood Mountain and a bunch of old favourites including my beloved March of the Fire Ants, the band addressed the crowd for the first time before leaving. No encore, but there was certainly no encore needed.
25 sept. 2006, 9h52m par meodaiThis weekend i was @ the Ping Pong Bitches concert @ wasserwerk in bern! The sound was great! They playd my favorite track feat. Prodigy! But the concert was very short! Something like 1h... :( But i danced a lot i was wet from head to feed. After that we was @ dachstock in bern @ the acid & d&b party! (http://www.dachstock.ch/)
4 jan. 2006, 1h34m par quaskyeArctic Monkeys--will I like them after 20 minutes though, who knows.
Lullatone--it's a music box! a pretty music box. like Psapp. also
Destroyer--I don't know, it's kind of okay, but maybe also boring...and in a similar vein is Snow Patrol, both kind of breathy melodic indy rock, for when i feel like that. Do I ever?
and because I certainly need more gothic female-vocalist music (eh?! eh?!), Queen Adreena
and for ambient there is Flux Utopia, pretty good, no drums.
and if I ever get tired of Lords of Acid for gross out hard electronica, there is Peaches. Seriously, ha ha ha ha. This is the best recommendation so far. (May also want to check out Ping Pong Bitches, if not just for the name)
8 sept. 2005, 14h05m par gracemondayI've been listening to almost nothing but Connie Francis, Rosemary Clooney, and Antonio Machin for the past day or so. I also recently got ahold of Paris Match's PM Radio and Quattro albums. I wish my life were like a bossanova song. :/
On my Hi-MD player, I've been switching between old annoying stuff I burnt before my other MD player died and whatever the hell I burnt a couple days ago. So mostly select Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Spoon, The Unicorns, Metric, Ping Pong Bitches, and ZAZEN BOYS.
I think it's funny when I'm on the bus and Perfume's 引力 comes on. It always makes me smile for some reason.
I sincerely wish Last.fm didn't always recommend really gay stuff for me to listen to. Here's an excerpt of what they think I'd like:
1 Neutral Milk Hotel
3 The Flaming Lips
4 The Decemberists
5 The Dismemberment Plan
6 Broken Social Scene
7 Built to Spill
8 The Walkmen
Why, Last.fm, do you want me to feel like an indie music reject? All these bands fucking suck. …
