Like many others, I got into Opeth through the masterpiece Damnation. I was really not a fan of growling (and I still dislike most bands who use it), but Mikael Åkerfeldt's songwriting on Damnation was so amazing and influenced my own songs so much that I just sort of had to take the risk and buy this new "regular" Opeth release.
I'm very glad I did.
Strangely enough, the heaviest song on the record, Heir Apparent, was - besides Coil of course ;) - the first track I really got into and it's still one of my favourite Opeth songs (I also bought Deliverance and Blackwater Park in the meantime).
Hessian Peel is really the standout track for me on Watershed. The way it builds up, the divine "verse" part and the heavy climax make this song one of the best I've heard in my entire life. It just captures everything I love about Opeth.

26 sept. 2006, 19h45m par longwayroundI downloaded the MusicIP mixer last week and, now that this aged G3 iMac has analysed most of my music library, I've decided to give it a whirl..
The idea is that I should pick one track and use that as a 'seed' for a mix. So, I have picked Belgium's 1986 Eurovision Song Contest winner J'aime la vie and told the software to create a one hour mix.
It's interesting and... strangely effective.
There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)
Ein bisschen Frieden
If She Knew What She Wants
Motorway To Roswell
Run for Your Life
Brand New Cadillac
Tears Are Not Enough
You're My Best Friend
With a Little Help from My Friends
Ring The Bells
The Pixies track, in particular, came as rather a surprise but it fits well.
