25 sept. 2013, 8h52m par ThyeadeschatarrUlcerate несомненно уникальный проект. Несмотря на заявленный technical death metal, эта музыка звучит вовсе не как усредненное аморфное задротство (которое, кстати, тоже слушать бывает интересно). Когда я впервые слушал композиции этой команды, в голове вертелась ассоциация с Cult of Luna и The Ocean, т.е.
26 déc. 2012, 6h24m par aworldoficeI had a journal of all the albums I own on my last account, so I feel a need to recreate it. I'm not sure why I do this, considering that I have RYM for cataloging now, but since I've done it so far, there's no reason to stop now, I suppose.
These are on CD unless it's marked otherwise.

17 fév. 2012, 19h54m par kurashuI didn't keep up with 2011 at all. It come, I saw, I didn't care...probably because I was largely computer-less (having a tower more than a decade old doesn't count much, in my opinion) through it -- which sucked. I did manage to hear a few of 2011's gifts -- Ulcerate's Destroyers of All and Fleet Foxes's Helplessness Blues and I listened to some of Path of Totality. That was about it.
However, I am now back in the saddle -- maybe, Dark Souls is still demanding a lot of my free time attention and then I just got Mass Effect 1 & 2, Skyrim sits unplayed by me, not mention all the other games coming out this year and the books that I've bought that have just piled up...whatever, you get the idea. However, this may not be an entirely bad thing because I was looking over MetalStorm's upcoming albums list and it seems depressing to me. Maybe I missed a lot in 2011 and that'll keep me busy through 2012 (at least in the music domain) nevermind all of the other music that has come out in the 5000+ years before this one.

7 oct. 2011, 18h09m par nightside242With any half-decent record, a strong opening track colours your perception of the rest of the album; think of how well 'Angel of Death' sets up Reign in Blood. So when Beyond Creation's The Aura opens with the muddled 'No Request for the Corrupted', it seems that it will be a long fifty minutes. Their technical ability is present in spades, and there are plenty of great ideas, but none of them are given time to settle and develop, and the modus operandi seems to be to disorientate listeners.
The crucial first impression is thus one of a band approaching 'progressive' in the easiest way they can: to throw as many ideas as possible at a wall and see what sticks. But once the canadians settle down and pace their ideas, the results are astounding. Second track ‘Coexistence’ and the instrumental ‘Chromatic Horizon’ are a vast improvement on the opener, a pairtechnical death metal tracks packed full of Necrophagist-worshipping riffs that provide a vital second wind for the album. …

orthophony - n. The art of correct articulation; voice training.
Given that many of the bands I like and talk about have names from other languages, I find myself often unsure how to pronounce them. Internet searches usually yield unclear instruction, or the ignorance of, "Just say it like it's spelled." Nothing is quite as good as hearing it for myself.
I decided to search band interviews for good examples, with some success. My findings are listed below. I've been compiling this list for awhile, as I've come across good sources. I try to get it directly from a band member's mouth, if possible. I figure that's the best example available.
I hope that this can be useful to other metal fans who care about this sort of thing… potentially a group effort. If you can contribute, post below. Include an approximate time reference if you're posting a video link. I suppose requests can be made here to. I already have a list of band names to do at the end.
