Mott the Hoople were a great band in the early 70s. The caught a bit of glam and changed. At the time I thought that they'd "sold out". Then again, who wants to make records that nobody buys? After more than 30 years I'm listening again, and I've changed my mind. I actually saw them live a couple of times, and they were good nights.
i'm going to be honest and say I discovered this thanks to its inclusion on a MOJO free CD celebrating the 70s british rock movement [other bands included on the compilation were Slade, Motorhead, T.Rex and Roy Wood] - so I can't be a music snob about this. BUT. this song is woefully under-appreciated. brilliant guitar solos, even keyboard solos. maybe better than All The Young Dudes.
