  • Pain be thy prayer... (Mefitic - Signing the Servants of God demo review)

    14 mars 2010, 1h43m par DeviantDCLXVI

I had not heard the name of Mefitic until recently, when I was trying to find something new to aurally absorb in an attempt to alleviate my oh-so-fascinating existence. I will admit that at first, I was tempted to relegate the band to the "do not care" filing cabinet inside my head; It has been long since the time I used to check out every band shoved under my nose. My attitude completely changed upon hearing samples of this demo.

  • Mini-Reviews of 2009 Releases

    22 juin 2009, 4h28m par orphy

I periodically update this post (last updated Nov 29/09). I generally check out releases I know I'm going to like, which is why I usually give out positive reviews. Comments, discussions, and recommendations of other 2009 releases are welcome.

    Absu - Absu (7/10)
A relatively decent comeback album. Drum prodigy Proscriptor has gathered some new musicians for Absu's fifth full length of thrashy black metal. Due to having a handful of different musicians involved in the songwriting process over the years, Absu's self titled has a variety of tones and moods to offer. This is good, but doesn't really cover any new ground that wasn't done in Tara. The drum sound is slightly annoying as well but such is life.

Altar of Oblivion - Sinews Of Anguish (5/10)
Am I missing something here? Some people really hyped up this band's debut, but after a few listens, nothing is really sticking. There are far much more interesting doom releases this year. …
