It seems this is her most hated album right now... Well, I like a lot of tracks. I know they could be better produced, but they are still good pop songs. GGW and Gang Bang are amazing, they make the album worth. Masterpiece and I Fucked Up are beautiful ballads. I'm Addicted is a great track also. The mistake of this album is in its production, sometimes Madonna's vocals are really annoying, like in Superstar and Love Spent. But the album is special to me anyway, because it came in a time when I connected with these songs very deeply.
This just sounds like some cash in posthumous mishmash release. Shame Madonna's gorgeous vocal is mostly lost. Why not just sing tunes and augment them with additional dance hall remixes like back in the eighties?
One of the big issues I have with MDNA is the songwriting - it's excessively dour and heavyhanded, which saps any perceptible joy or brightness. The other concerns the half-hearted, slapped together singles. There are some decent tracks here though and even the weaker ones show glimpses of quality. I think Madonna goes for too much on MDNA: revisiting career hallmarks, exploring her divorce, updating her sound etc. Too many tracks are not-so-subtle subliminal extensions of her personal life...
A guilty pleasure. ♥
I think the reason that this album doesn't really outshine the rest is because it doesn't really have an overall 'theme'. It just seems like a collection of catchy electronic dance songs.
My favorite Madonna's albums:
1 Confessions on a Dance Floor
3 American Life
4 Ray Of Light
5 Hard Candy
7 Bedtime Stories
8 Like A Prayer
10 Like A Virgin
11 True Blue

I agree with that one. I love the album, it's catchy. But her other albums felt more like a "body of work" than this one . yeah, still love it
