v You're actually comparing them? They're not even in the same genre, let alone the fact that Maidens are GODS and Machine Head are just a bunch of Pantera wannabes.
So I guess that's enough internet for today :d
It was the most cringe-worthy shit I've heard all year (so far), to be honest. The fact that Robb also re-wrote the lyrics to be influenced by the Anselmo scandal is even more cringe-worthy, seeing as Robb certainly isn't the right person to judge such an action with his own background in mind. Maybe instead of making a song out of it, he should've put Anselmo down on the spot, backstage at that gig. Talkin' is easy, apparently action wasn't.
Robb himself said the song was inspired by the Anselmo scandal, so yes. It was in some interview around the single's release. Also, look at this http://i1.wp.com/www.metalinjection.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/12565443_10153881369895842_3813287181254396748_n.jpg?resize=700%2C428 ... Apparently Robb hadn't any problem with nazi salutes back in the day.
In my opinion, The Blackening is the greatest album of that band, however, they didn't released anything good since that record. Unto The Locust was pretty good, but this is not the same level. Bloodstone And Diamonds was disappointing to me, only few songs was nice. Is There Anybody Out There sounds like something from newest album, I'm afraid that Machine Head will go this way. New song is fucking crappy.
I partially have the same view as you, though I prefer BME to TB. I also think the new song sounds more like something off of Supercharger, but I totally agree with you that UTL was a bit mediocre and B&D was plain disappointing.
By your logic countless bands are just wannabees of whoever they were influenced by, I hear pantera in a lot of machine head's groove and that's fine, are you gonna say they're just a metallica wannabee, a killswitch engage wannabe, a black sabbath wannabe, an alice in chains wannabe, a slayer wannabe since those bands had equal influence on machine head... it's redundant.
Wtf is with that new song? It's worse than New Resistance. I guess I shouldn't be surprised after the shitfest that was Bloodstone & Diamonds but still... RIP Machine Head, 1992 - 2013. Without Duce it's just Robb Flynn & friends.
C'MON!!! lol I get what robb was thinking, hey all these shitty bowlhead haircut breakdown bands with rejected backstreet boys choruses can get more listeners than us, let's do a song just like them (and it's better than pretty much all of those bands but is pure shit for machine head's standards) fair fucks if they pull over some fans into a better band than what they listen to otherwise but I don't think that's the audience they need long term, I can let it slide if it's just that song pandering to that direction, a full record in that vein will see them divebomb.
Wow, the new song was really disappointing, not to mention it's kind of annoying that Robb can't let go of that whole Anselmo incident. Maybe it's time for Anselmo to do a song about Robb's brag about dealing drugs back in the day and thus feeding the junkies with junk. I mean, I hear Robb and all, but come on ... Don't be that self-righteous, dude.
Flynn even said in one of the making of videos that demmel and mcclain hate it, well if half of your band members hate something you probably need to take their opinion seriously. Flynn is chasing that hit single dream again, machine head are never going to get bigger than the blackening, and that album was a classic upon release that's why they got the accolades not cause of trying to be asking alexandria.
It's nowhere near even decent, it's abysmal. It belongs on supercharger for christ sake. I like half of the burning red and a quarter of supercharger but this song is in the top 5 worst tracks by the band, I know you can't keep hitting home runs like they have for over a decade now but that new one is atrocious, up there with some of the worst bands in kerrang lol.
That new song isn't very good... hope they get rid of that direction sharpish, the albums from ashes to bloodstone have been full of almost zero filler... keep it that way. What the hell was robb thinking.
"Halooooo, sounds like I'm cryyyyin' out! Oh no-oooooh!" Man, I really can't stand those cleans anymore. Don't know why, when or what happened to my ears, but it sounds so cringe-worthy. I used to LOVE "Halo"... I guess I just listened to too much "Let freedom ring with a shotgun blast! *Boom!*".
Burn My Eyes, The More Things Change, Through the Ashes of Empires, The Blackening, Unto the Locust, Bloodstone and Diamonds, that's more than 2, all those albums are better than Far Beyond Driven and Reinventing the Steel too.
