Andy's first show for four months features tons of brand new music from artists you may or may not yet have heard of, including (but not limited to) Dan Deacon, Azure Blue, Shlohmo, Swim Deep, God Damn, Haelos, Lonely Boy, Fufanu, Yung, Braids and Georgia. Stick around for two hours of the very best new tunes - plus a smattering of slightly older ones too!
New records in abundance this June with tracks from recent albums by Wetdog, Helsinki's trash rockers The Splits, plus the dazzling Mbongwana Star from the Democratic Republic Of Congo. There's a taster from the forthcoming Sauna Youth long player, a new album from Switzerland's Massicot, and a track from the recent Steve Gunn collaboration with The Black Twig Pickers.
Brutal dancefloor devastation this month comes from Diagonal's Green Gums, Lisbon's hot new talent Dj Nedwyt Fox, an unremitting Oneohtrix Point Never release influenced by Japanese video games, plus the best thing to come out of Hamburg since The Beatles, Helena Hauff.

Andy has two shows in October's schedule. His regular 2-hour show features loads of great new tunes including Y.O.U., The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Team Me, Le Vasco, Lust for Youth, TV on the Radio, Oracles, The Raveonettes, The Horn the Hunt and The Woken Trees. There are no guest spots from family or friends this month, but as this is Dandelion Radio's 100th monthly schedule, Andy marks the achievement by playing a couple of classic session tracks recorded for previous episodes of his show.
Listen out elsewhere in October's schedule for Andy's Peel Session Archives, featuring an hour of tracks recorded for John Peel's Radio 1 show by well-known, and not so well-known acts across over three decades. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of the death of John Peel (the BBC DJ who inspired Dandelion Radio), the show features rarely-heard session versions of tracks from the likes of Joy Division, Thin Lizzy, 70 Gwen Party, Arab Strap, Babes in Toyland, Pulp and many others.
15 jui. 2014, 17h39m par Brand-X279I'm spending most of my day today reconnecting with some of my music from a ways back. I've been a huge fan of µ-Ziq (Mike Paradinas) & Vapourspace (Mike Gage) since 1993, and I haven't listen to my µ-Ziq or Vapourspace albums for a while. Having a library of more than 30,000 tracks you kinda forget what you have over time. I bought all of his albums when they first came out back in the 90's.
His music always allowed me to escape reality. If my dreams had a soundtrack, it would be all of µ-Ziq's & Vapourspace albums (throw in some early 80's new age & jazz music some early 90's ambient electronic & ambient techno & top 4 for 2000's: Tycho, Hammock, Eluvium & Manual) in constant rotation. That's what is so divine, I haven't had a nightmare since I was 9 years old, all of my dreams since have always been very vivid, lucid, beautiful & serene. My life so far has been like a 26 year long, 24/7 Outer Body Experience with some freakin' awesome Background Music.

Wez G - Little Disco Biscuit
The best time for dance music in my opinion was the early 1990s. It was the heyday of the rave scene and dancefloors were packed with sky high dancing bods. The reason I like this period is not that the floors were filled with ecstasy takers, but that the music was at its peak. Dubby loops of bass and funk with a constant circular rhythm in the tents and clubs drove the E'd up crowd into a frenzy. The beats suited the experience of everyone - It was total unity and I think that over the years as the government has killed off the scene with various parliamentary acts (eg criminal justice act 1994) and the total media frenzied attack on ecstasy, claiming it killed you, and the general shift towards commercialism and business, moved the music towards a different direction. Of course, post 1997 - even the dealers were selling ketamine and calling it ecstasy... …
