29 oct. 2011, 23h01m par missygp29Apropos of nothing - well, not nothing. I'm bored of work and would much rather distract myself by listmaking. So here it goes: Top 10 LCD Soundsystem tracks. Tricky, tricky, tricky. Because some of them I absolutely adore but mostly love live (hello, Yeah); some others don't sound great live (Get Innocuous) but are absolute faves. What to do?
10. Never As Tired As When I'm Waking Up / Us v. Them (for the live version)
9. Dance Yourself Clean
8. Great Release
7. Yeah (live, at least - fricking phenomenal)
6. Get Innocuous
5. Someone Great
4. Losing My Edge
1. All My Friends
That was hard. I need a lie-down.

Preface: my lack of a computer kept me from posting this for quite a while, but I'd like to do it now, no matter how overdue this is. Moving on...
This concert was simply all sorts of amazing. I got in right after Sleigh Bells had begun their set, and they proceeded to play for about 40 minutes, bringing a lot of energy to tracks from their debut album Treats. I'd be lying if I said I was super familiar with their work, since I had only started listening to them a couple of weeks before the show, but I do recall a handful of the songs played that evening. The sound setup was excellent, filling the room with heavy hitters like Tell 'Em and my personal favourite, Infinity Guitars. The band (fittingly) closed out their set with album closer Treats.
But enough about Sleigh Bells. As fun as they were to see, the real reason I was at this show was to see LCD Soundsystem, and holy shit, did they deliver. …

Last.fm says that I have 99% compatibility with this festival so good thing I went!
This is a review but it is also a re-experience. I am going to go thru the festival as I saw it, thru my eyes and the video cameras of the lovely people that have posted their videos on youtube.
Fell asleep when the sun was coming up and woke up a few hours later. Waited in a long ass line to get into the venue, but at least Portland's own All The Apparatus was playing for the folks who were waiting. They were really good and even covered Nantes which was the perfect song for a beautiful sunny day in the Gorge.
Brother Ali was the first act we caught. He was fun, played a lot of songs of The Undisputed Truth which is a really great record. DJ Snuggles blew everyone away with his beatboxing skillz.
We scooted up front for Minus the Bear. The sound was really good, spot on.

Try not to repeat a song title. It's a lot harder than you think! Repost as "my life according to (band name)"....i was bored...

Over the course of the last 6 months of this decade, i’ll be putting together my favorite twelve albums of the years 2000 up to and 2009. Why twelve? It was too hard to actually cut it down to ten, and reviewing two albums a month seems like a good pace. Expect some safe choices, some incomprehensible ones, but most of all a record-collector having a go at recollecting an eclectic decade.
In 2002, the world looked up when LCD Soundsystem released their first single Losing My Edge - the story of a DJ who’s afraid of losing touch with the times while bragging about his impeccable and infinite music collection. It reintroduced a sense of humor in music that somehow disappeared with the Talking Heads, and really was the starting point of the Zeroes’ typical post-eclectic, cross-referencing popmusic that acts like Franz Ferdinand took to other levels.
LCD Soundsystem is James Murphy is DFA Records. Mr. …
