I guess I can understand why Kenna hasn’t caught on with too many people; his music is probably too anomalous for the average listener. It's hard to even put him in a genre, which is great creatively but probably not so great for marketing. Who knows though, maybe he’ll find a larger audience with a third album. I actually liked those new songs he released a while back, but it seems like the guy gets no promotion. Is he on a label anymore? I didn’t even know he’d released anything since Make Sure They See My Face until I got curious one day and looked him up. Pretty much agree with @Wise_Guy13 as far as those tracks are concerned.
The similar artists listed above is pretty screwed. Kenna's music isn't R&B in the slightest. True similar artists to Kenna would be She Wants Revenge, The Shins, Santigold and all of the other modern post-new wavesters. I really hope Kenna isn't being shoved in the R&B/urban box because of "how we looks" (code words). That would be very unfortunate.
I don't know if he is over-hyped, I rather would say that he is mad underrated... He has truly a big musical talent, his lyrics and vocals are in my opinion almost perfect. I like how he is mixing electronic style with good pop/R'n'B., it does sound very original.
