black metal is not supposed to be heavy. after destroyer (which sucked too) they glossed their shit up with nuclear blast mainstream lacuna coil production. inappropriate. everything about that era gorgoroth is inappropriate for black metal.
the new album is just not good, simple as that. it's dated already. this is coming from somebody who really dug quantos. it's a pale flame to king's material. also i think hoest should just up and do studio vocals for this band, what the fuck is the point in firing a great vocalist for not wanting to tour overseas (lol yeah right) only to hire a studio vocalist who won't travel outside serbia to perform and then hire an entirely separate vocalist from another well-established black metal band to do live vocals. there is none. whine whine whine.
i think for some of the songs the repetitiveness works but for others, it just makes them completely boring - come night, dionysian rite, burn in his light, & kala brahman typically bore me to tears - consisting of over half the album. the riffs, while monotonous and repetitive flow very well and the drumming is excellent on this new album. quantos is leagues better to me.
"Instinctus Bestialis" is, in fact, a decent album. In the vein of the old ones and nothing similar at that trainwreck that was "Quantos..." and, of course "Under the Sign of Hell, raping Erik's corpse Edition"
See people hating on new albyum for its "simplistic songwriting and lyrics", but that's actually what makes this album good imo. It's actually quite a catchy and fun record, and the songs stick in the mind more so than songs on previous albums
After over a decade in the movement...i finally decided it's time to quit. Despite the fact that half of the songs in the genre are about violence/slaughters, satanism, misanthrophy and inhumanity you realize it's addressed to a merry group of beat-up guys (wussies) and chicks with emotional issues. And I never really cared for any metal-related ideology I just treated this as an "amusing over-distorted brutal music with lyrics you shouldn't really treat too serious" :-) Really there is a time in life where you are WAY TOO OLD for wearing a metal-head uniform, and it's WAY BETTER to blend with "random pedestrians" than to be part of ATTACK OF THE CLONES on a Metal-gig. There is really no point to suck-up and be identified with a bunch of TOMBSTONE HIPPIES and PILL-EATING MENTAL CHICKS WEARING LATEX OR LEATHER. To a regular 'every-day, normal guy' there's no bigger difference if have you long hair or mohawk, or is it a MayheM or The Exploited t-shirt.
Part2: And I catch their point. After some time in this, when I saw another metalhead I actually labeled him a "jack-ass" and made fun of him, rather then considering him a worthy person to become buddies and drinking companions. It's a bold statement but the metal genre started.. and ended as well - with BLACK SABBATH. What's the point of "dressing-up" if you're not an artist performing on-stage? And there's actually a small group of METAL-bands, with lyrics that depict life-issues and point out social problems, that are actually worth anything (such as thrash bands like Megadeth, Voivod or Xentrix) but it's still ThRASH anyway. "Procreating Satan" a title like that..who's attention it would draw? Only a total retard. Despite being an atheist i prefer Catholics over long-haired lefties with no moral values. You guys really think you are scary, hardcore SATANIC bad-asses but you're actually being mocked and laughed-at by the society in a similar way to the LGBT communities
I miss Gaahl and King ov Hell. Always loved Gorgoroth, even when they moved to their "new sound" when Gaahl took over Pest. The other way around seems to be missing something... "Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam" was just so much deeper and brutal than "Quantos [...]" and "Instinctus Bestialis".
Instinctus Bestialis adopted a further, colder, level as far as the sound, but there are still some elder elements like in UTSOH such as the drop-down sound of drums... Not as good as the old albums but still pretty good.
