  • Walkin' Shoes is one of my favourites songs I liked to play onstage.I like it twice since I'm in a rolling chair...
  • NIce!
  • GREAT MATCH
  • Mulligan was a great composer and collaborator as well. His work with Brubeck and Desmond was outstanding. If you can find a recording of North Atlantic Run, it's different for a jazz tune and it shows how inventive Mulligan really was.
  • My introduction to Modern Jazz back in the middle fifties, was Gerry Mulligan with a single called 'I'm beginning to see the light' which in those days I played at least a dozen times a day, most probably drove my parents and neighbours round the bend! Following on were the California concerts with the classis 'Blues going up'. Afterwards his Paris concerts were inspiring, Walking Shoes and Love me or leave me amongst his best numbers. If you get the chance try to listen to either of those concerts, they were great.
  • I don't know why, but it took me a long time to really appreciate Gerry Mulligan. Used to think his stuff was pretty generic sax stuff. Nothing very distinguished. But recently, I have listened more closely, more deliberately, and am starting to get his more understated style. With or without Chet, definetely worth investigating more closely.
