My father bought Ride The Fader here in Brazil because my famili's last name is "Chavez" (with Z, something uncommon here). I listen to the album and think "omfg, this is very good!".
Nice band, nice name, nice sound.
2004 show from Bowery Ballroom in NYC on my blog and for your d/ling pleasure at: http://darshun.blogspot.com Not my best recording but the fault is on the soundman who didn't eq the guitars very well...
Like what the hell is wrong with computation linguists? They improve spellchecker technology. Without computational linguistics it would be much harder to take seriously your blog post about how Slint is post-modern.
Ok normally I don't like genre police, but actually can we make Chavez not math rock anymore? Because I actually like Chavez and I don't want people to think I like math rock I don't wanna be like "Oh, that's Chavez" and someone goes "What are they?" and I say "Math Rock" and she says "AHAHHAAH Go read xkcd and get angry about computational linguistics, loser. hahahha Odd time signatures stopped being artsy before Napoleon was born, LOSER." and she would be right. So in conclusion math rock is listened to by the most annoying people ever but Chavez is good so can they not be math rock anymore?
