  • Sheesh, those 1991-1992 shows can be petrifyingly awful. But so fascinating. Weird to see/hear a live performer so out of it and non-chalant. The booze really got the best of him then, I'm glad he quit cold turkey soon after.
  • ...or else your hearts must have the courage for the changing of the guards... (one of the most beautiful lines ever, ever, ever)
  • Well maybe I'm just not as into his stuff as I use to beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! But I do hope everyone does enjoy it!
  • @A1000Mistakes I'm still making my way through the collection of course, but so far it seems like the Blonde on Blonde stuff is where most of the best jamming was done. If you can, I would at least recommend checking out all the takes for "Visions of Johanna", "Just Like a Woman", "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again", and "I Want You". Those were the most interesting to listen to, by far. I generally like the whole collection, but mostly as a historical curiosity, And I'm a turbonerd when it comes to Dylan anyway.
  • That 1st take of Absolutely Sweet Marie is absolutely sweet!
  • Well I think I was right after listening to the highlights on the best of, nothing is better than what's on those albums really but saying that the best thing was how the song California changed into Outlaw Blues! @AmericanSuit I'll have a listen to Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands somewhere else because I love his really long songs but 18 discs is really overkill even 6 discs is because he's recorded so much stuff I don't think I have to listen to all of it but if you do or anyone else now you can well all of the years 65 to 66! You have a point about seeing how Dylan's mind works but I don't think I really want to listen to it. Still love some more live bootleg but maybe those three recording are the best ones in the vaults anyway. My guess would be Blood On The Tracks will be next in the series!!
  • @A1000Mistakes You're pretty much right, most of the best stuff is on the Best of compilation. The only place where the compilation seriously lacks is in the really long songs (no Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, for example). Still, the whole 18 disc set is really interesting just to see how Dylan's mind works.
  • I just got The Best of The Cutting Edge (2 CD) I don't I think I really need to listen to anymore, I'm guessing best stuff end up on those albums in the first place, I'll be really surprised if some is better not like his later albums which missed some great stuff out. I could be wrong but I'm going to listen to it right now, I guess could be good to listen to the whole work in progress because it's a great period of Dylan. I think I would like more live bootlegs really, those early three are the best in the series so far! Well that's just my opinion!
  • Kinda depressing to hear him try to get She's Your Lover Now right, it's such a great song, but at the end of the day, just never really gelled...
  • now He's spoon-feeding Cassanova the boiled guts of birds...
