Pretty much my favorite song. I make sure I listen to this song every day before I chase the dream of someone that isn`t me.

"wage labour, corresponds to the most profound form of alienation. Since wage workers sell their labour power to earn a living, and the capitalist owns the labour process, the product of the workers’ labour is in a very real sense alien to the worker. It is not her product but the product of the capitalist... Alienation can be overcome by restoring the truly human relationship to the labour process, by people working in order to meet people's needs, working as an expression of their own human nature, not just to earn a living." http://marxists.org/glossary/terms/a/l.htm#alienation

"Now we the American working population Hate the fact that eight hours a day Is wasted on chasing the dream of someone that isn`t us And we may not hate our jobs But we hate jobs in general That don`t have to do with fighting our own causes" -- the alienation of the proletariat under capitalism

Yeah, you can pursue your dreams. As long as you don't have a family that's dependent on you and don't mind starving if it doesn't come true. Forget getting the capital required to open a business or move to be where you need. That's the shit part about capitalism. You can make something of yourself if you work at it...as long you get lucky.

LoveThe90s: Sure we're free but how many actually truly feel 100% free, working a 9-5 to survive?

Rofen has it exactly right. Yeah it's a free country, go ahead quit your job. You don't have to work there, but our country, nevertheless our world really relies on money.
