    Favorite Album?

It depends what kinda mood i'm in, but i'd hafta say that Coma Divine is one of the best albums of all time.. it's basically perfect to me usually. Otherwise, i think TSMS for a slow, spacey mood or Stupid Dream if you just wanna chill and listen to some BEAUTIFUL music. What do you think?

For me it's Lightbulb Sun. It is the perfect PT album. I agree with you on Stupid Dream. I think it's a very consistent album. Other albums have their high's and low's IMO.

  • At first it was Sky Moves Sideways, I still love that album, but in my opinion Stupid Dream is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard. Piano Lessons <3

    Lightbulb Sun

I've been a fan since Coma Divine, and I just think they improve with time. All their earlier stuff is great as well, but these past 5 years have been PT's greatest era.

Deadwing is the best for me. Followed by Stupid Dream and In Absentia.

For years The Sky Moves Sideways was my fave as it was with that album that I discovered PT but they have eclipsed it several times over in recent years.

i would also choose the best 3 LPs from PT's different phases, here we go:

    1. The Sky Moves Sideways/Signify
    2. Stupid Dream
    3. In Absentia

    RE: Favorite Album

I am going to have to probably go with In Absentia followed closely by the Sky Moves Sideways. It is really hard to choose with Porcupine Tree because you love each of their albums for entirely different reasons. I can't imagine choosing a favorite song.

at the moment i've only got In Absentia and Coma Divine (both just at my PC), and of the two, i like Coma Divine best...

today i saw that one of the local recordshops had deadwing, coma divine, warzawa, in absentia, and one or two more, not shure which of them it was, but anyway; i didn't have any money on me then, but i guess i'll go "bananas" in that store in a few days ^^

  • Easily The Sky Moves Sideways. Metanoia is second fave and I'm not sure on third. Probably Up The Downstair

Probably Deadwing or Lightbulb Sun. Both albums have two of my favourite songs ever on them; Arriving Somewhere But Not Here, and Shesmovedon. Both brilliant albums. Not a dud track on either of 'em.

  • Definitely Stupid Dream, which is one of my all-time-favourites as well.
    Followed by Lightbulb Sun.
But Coma Divine is fantastic, too :)

This question is impossibly difficult. The Sky Moves Sideways is awesome. And personally, I really get into Voyage 34. But then you can't leave out Lightbulb Sun, or Stupid Dream. And of course Deadwing and In Absentia are both incredible. And On The Sunday of Life is great too... Radioactive Toy is incredible. And now I've just about named everything.....damn.

Hmmmmm. A hard question to answer, indeed.

I really like Staircase Infinities, Up The Downstair and Signify, and of course Coma Divine, because it's a sort of transition between the styles. I find that songs from this period are great for working to, particularly if I have to write a lot. Some favourite tracks, in no particular order, include The Joke's On You, Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape, Navigator, Not Beautiful Anymore, Always Never, The Sky Moves Sideways, Burning Sky, The Moon Touches Your Shoulder, Signify and Sever.

I'd have to give On The Sunday Of Life a mention, because I love its eclectic range and because I can't ignore the fact that Wilson wrote some of those great songs when he was just fourteen or fifteen. I particularly like Nine Cats, Radioactive Toy, The Nostalgia Factory and And The Swallows Dance Above The Sun.

Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun are both great albums too and obviously very popular amongst people here. They, for me, show when PT's music became more "song-y" as opposed to being compositions. I really love Piano Lessons, How Is Your Life Today?, Shesmovedon, Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth Before it is Recycled, Russia On Ice, Stop Swimming, Slave Called Shiver and Pure Narcotic.

Voyage 34... Well, I just think it's amazing, but in a different way to the others. I get deeply lost in it, and all four phases of the complete trip have to be listened to together, in my opinion.

And now I come to the most recent albums such as In Absentia and Deadwing. In Absentia was what my brother used to wean me on to PT, so I do still love it, and Deadwing is also great. In these two albums, their sound becomes more rocky. Delectable songs include Trains, Lazarus, Wedding Nails, The Sound Of Muzak, Heartattack In A Layby, The Start Of Something Beautiful, Strip The Soul and Shallow.

Ok, that would just about conclude my essay... I didn't intend to write that much, but I guess it's a reflection of how great and diverse PT are. The songs I mentioned are not my only favourites; they just came to mind quickly. Lots of people have mentioned The Sky Moves Sideways here, so I may have to go about buying that one next...

(An apology for the numerous errors which this post no doubt contains. I wrote it in a hurry, and have no time to check it.)

    Signify, by quite a distance.

It may not have the best standalone songs, but it is (for me) the best album. I can still remember the first time I heard the whole of it. Felt like a mental cleansing.
