Description :
Welcome are any kinds of Metal

Sick of seeing the overrated, over-exposed mainstream metal bands like Metallica and such in the top 10 of every single metal group? Enjoy your more obscure/extreme metal and are fed up with finding most metal groups you turn to tend to listen to too much of the well-known stuff? Then this group is for you.

We believe that the most common bands in top artists lists in many metal groups are much too overrated and get an outrageously undeserved amount of scrobbles. Eventually we get tired of seeing the same bands appear over and over in the most played lists.

The aim of this group is to bring together metalheads that listen to the less widely-known gems in metal, and create top artist lists containing and giving more exposure to such bands.

Please note that this isn't an anti-(insert mainstream metal band here) group, though feel free to join this group anyway if you happen to hate mainstream bands. The point of this group isn't to shit on any band that gets too much exposure and to be an elitist. The point is to create a more unconventional metal group that doesn't have the usual, cliche metal bands in the top artists all the time. We want weekly charts made up almost completely of bands that most non-metalheads have never heard of.

It is advisable that you avoid applying for this group if you listen to too much of bands such as: Metallica, Iron Maiden, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Dragonforce, Pantera, Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish, Cannibal Corpse, Cradle of Filth, Opeth, Death, etc. Some exceptions may be allowed if you balance out a couple of more well-known bands with a lot of less well-known music.
Also, don't worry if you're one of those more open-minded metalheads that listens to a lot of non-metal, as long as it's not too mainstream and also too widely scrobbled.

At least 1000 scrobbles would be preferred, so that we can accurately determine your eligibility.

You can't even take over as leadership for the group, I'd write this one off as a corpse. It wasn't that bad when it first started.

This group is dead, with no leader to accept pending members..the charts will stagnate and likely membership will drop.

@Khiro666 "To expand on what I said below; I am not saying this would apply to Heavy Metal as a whole. But by way of an example are not NSBM groups trying to present a socio-politico philosophy through their music and lyrics?" Yes, evidently NSBM bands are presenting their own philosophy through the music, but that doesn't make NSBM itself a philosophy, one reason being that it is expressing an already established philosophy. It encourages a certain kind of philosophical perspective, but is more an avenue of expression for a philosophy that already exists. As for metal itself, there are arguably a core of values shared by a great number of metalheads, but in many ways they are a combination of philosophies that previously existed. While in our age that combination is rather unique to the genre, it brings nothing necessarily new to the table. Its the means by which those of philosophies are expressed that makes it unique.

While the genre may support or encourage such exploration, one cannot literally term heavy metal as a philosophy in and of itself, not matter the personal purpose it may serve.

For me Heavy Metal is an active philosophy in which I have been able to explore my own thoughts and ideas on existentialism and nihilism. More so in the genres of BM and DM.
