Flash 10 problems - Embedded music Problems!

  • Flash 10 problems - Embedded music Problems!

Its been pointed out to me that there is a problem with the last fm inline swf player (that used to be used for embedding tracks on websites) does not work under flash 10.

Is there any fix for this? my bands website has a few tracks on it which are hosted by last fm, and anyone viewing it with flash 10 will not see the play button. Flash 9 works fine.

Please can anyone suggest why this is?

    Thanks!

  • I'm fairly sure we do not offer this inline embed player anymore and it's therefore now unsupported, so I don't think there'll be a fix for it.

This may have been addressed in our support forum for labels and artists, too, where I'm moving your thread to now, maybe try having a look there for similar postings?

  • seems that last fm has completely lost its direction.

all the adverts are for bands that dont need publicity, independant artists who actually need publicity are being overlooked.

unfortunatly, since this feature is no longer supported, there is little point for any of my bands to have music on here. Leaving our music on here only helps last fm, and not us. The only way for people to hear our music is to visit this site. this helps last fm more than it helps me... it doesnt seem quite right!

its a sad day for me :(

im sorry last fm, you just dont have what it takes anymore. listen to your users! your users make you!

you have turned into a corporate site. you are non longer independant.

you do not have the seem to have the same vision as you did before the site was sold.

please think about this. im a big fan of this site, but the more we care about things, the more things can be a dissapointment!

  • well i have deleted all my tracks, im very sad that its come to this....
i may have over reacted, and i will give it some thought over christmas.

i dont want to start looking for another site that does a similar thing but better, i shouldnt have to.

come on last fm! let artists embed THEIR OWN music on THEIR OWN sites!

develop a system that only allows artists the ability and not the users if its a liscencing issue, remember, the artists have the right!

  • Embedded Player Not Supported? Silly... (euphemistically speaking)

Hello. I Had an embedded player in my site working fine very recently, yesterday I noticed is completely gone, the browser says "Movie not loaded" and I am on Flash Player 9, Firefox, Safari. I've check in different OS and machines...
I've searched your help, forums and it seems funny that there is little or no mention to it. This is the first page I find with someone like me asking about it. What's going on? If you offer an embedded player, you must support it, or otherwise make a big annoucement to all users so we can take care of our sites!... Now my site has been silent who knows how long and I didn't know it.

    Mateo.

    Mateo,

as far as i know, the support for teh embedded audio tracks was removed when last fm updated the website to this new version a few months ago... They seemed to allow people who already had stuff embedded on their website to keep that stuff working, but removed the code from all pages so no additional code could be applied. When flash 10 came out, it all broke (i dont know if it is fixed), but if you are using flash 9, then it still works (i just tested).

you can generate embedd code by going to my website here :

    stoopid

It's one of many disappointments since they changed ownership/website. I'm looking for a decent lastfm clone ever since. I'll move, leave al my stats and start all over again as soon as it appears.

    Hi everyone,

We appreciate labels and artists using Last.fm and we do not wish to undermine your contribution to the site via uploading music and enriching our users experience. We will ensure that we keep you updated on this situation via this thread

There is a more informative reply from Helen in October here as to why embeddable players have been suspended.
As stated (more recently) we are ..finding out where things are with this; in the meantime your posts are not being ignored and all constructive feedback is much appreciated...
    Thanks,
    - edd

  • sorry, but thats just not good enough.

You supported them once, people built sites around them.
Now you dont support them anymore, youre screwing up ALL our work!

it would take one of your engineers about half a day to fix the flash 10 issue. You just need to fix the inline swf (which is still on your servers btw) which has never been removed, but just broken for flash 10.

like I say, its just NOT good enough!
