this band is really popular here, love their first album

Metal/Trash/Hard rock: Wolfgang
one of the best metal band here, metallica inspired
songs: Mata ng diyos (English ver), As Oceans, Cast of Clowns, Arise, Atomica

Alternative/Pop: Rivermaya
Popular all over south east asia, they played in MTV Asia and F1 in Singapore

Eraserheads
probably the best/popular band here in the Philippines, award winning, inspired many bands here

special song mention: Maselang bahaghari (non-english) - imo, this is one unique creative song

Nu/Alternative Metal: Slapshock
their early albums is really good, the song 'Evil Clown' sounds like KoRn

hmm, majority of their songs are actually in English

Heavy Metal/Nu/Experimental:
Greyhoundz
Songs: Mr P.I.G., Versus, Your Puppet and Clown

if I were to recommend OPM bands to Jerry Cantrell maybe I'd recommend Cheese and Greyhoundz, awesome guitar riffs
