    Grooveshark Vs Last.FM

ok, so what do you think about grooveshark and how does it compare against last?

    My go:

    +hear any song countless times
    +better player
    -no band/artist info
-no social thingy (hey, maybe this is a +!!)

    GO!!

  • I agree with your + and -
It is great to be able to listen to what you want at any time.
I would only add one more -
The recomendation system is not that good, I mean... here is a little more "manual" because yo get a list and start choosing there what you like... but at grooveshark, it only adds a song to the qeue... it's nice the faces idea to say if you like it... but i would like the chance to click somewhere and get a real list... it looks too random for me, and I guess I'll have to use it for a while to see how smart it is.

  • I forgot something... I also think they should create a stand alone player to avoid using the browser... perhaps it's not too hard to port the player to an air application... it would be much cooler.

The secret forum last.fm doesn't want you to know about.

Doesn't have 30 months of my listening history for me to access.

I don't really have any issue with the last.fm player. My iPod & laptop are my primary means of playing mp3s.

Now, if you tell me that Grooveshark keeps a list of what CDs you've been playing...?

    :D

  • - It doesn't have me as a user...oh wait, forget about that =D

    Grooveshark is sweet =) Thanks

But I don't think you can compare Last.fm to Grooveshark :s

  • As with a lot of the other sites that are compared with this site... (might be) nice if you are into more mainstream music, but doesn't offer half of the streaming options I find here.
And as long as these sites can not change that, I see them not as anything close to a comparison :P

Remember to say "thank you" for the things you haven't had

You just can't compare the 2 sites. Last.fm is just more of a social network about music. Grooveshark is kind of a player that offers lots of music to play.

Grooveshark has other options. For example I like the upload option, that way you can upload music, if it's not already on it. All the songs you find there are full songs and not 30 secs previews. And I just don't use the Last.fm player to play my own music (because of the 30 secs previews). The player in Last.fm is just something additional, the player in Grooveshark is what's it all about, everything else has been built around it.

    Scrobbling's where it's all at.

    Is that a birthmark?
  • Grooveshark = illegal

Last.FM = legal, wonderful community, recommendations, scrobbling, should I continue?

  • i love grooveshark ... everything grooveshark has, i am missing at last.fm or is only available for premium users

love the possibility to make playlists the way u want and share them with others and LISTEN TO COMPLETE SONGS ... i miss this feature at last.fm

but u can't compare them directly...

Grooveshank - I have never heard of it.

It can't be better than Last.fm, its statistics are detailed and open for use by third party apps. It has a huge database and years of trend analysis. I very mouch duobt groovshank has the same capability in this respect.

As for the free music. Come on, this is the internet, the availability of free music has never been a problem. The only thing holding back last.fm is that its bound to licensing laws, something which i doubt this groovewant is.

Last.fm is glad to be compared to an internet radio station. Since last.fm is all about statistics, and discovery - of which a radio station is merely an add-on.

its not here to facilitate piracy. stop trying to compare apples and racoons here.

  • Like I said before...You just can't compare the two.
    Last.fm = music COMMUNITY
    GrooveShark = music LISTENING

The handy thing of GrooveShark is that I can create my own playlist of songs that I like and when I'm going somewhere else I can just log in and listen to it. What's handy about it too is that you can upload your own music (if it hasn't already been uploaded)

  • How about a stand-alone player for GrooveShark that has Last.fm support? Would you be interested in that? Maybe just a little bit?
