Albums of the Year 2011

  • Albums of the Year 2011

Shoot me down if this seems like a duff idea...
I used to frequent the music forums on Metacritic, in the main for the annual Albums of the Year thread posters put together.
Everyone would post their top 20 albums of the year from November through to early January, in order, with points allocated for placing higher up the posters' lists.
One unlucky soul would be charged with adding up the totals for each album, to form an overall Albums of the Year for the forum.
Would anyone be up for doing this here?
I would say ranking the best LPs of 2011 from 10-1 would be neater and less time consuming, with one point for 10th through to 10 points for first.
    What do people reckon?

    EDIT -
new format has been suggested -
    - ten albums only
-allocate points not placings (I'll take those already posted into consideration, no need to repost in the new format)
    - use artist first, then title, then points.

Any posts not listing the full 10 etc. will not be counted, as I'm quite lazy.

It's not a bad idea, isaacashe! There's still a few 2011 albums I'm looking forward to before I make my list. How about adding rules to make it easier:

    - List at most 10 albums in the thread

    - Allocate the numbers 1-10 as points, and don't use the same number twice

    - Use the following format, so it can easily be pasted into a spreadsheet and sorted by artist:

    Artist - Title (points)

  • I concur with Bloopy's rules.
    - ten albums only
-allocate points not placings (I'll take those already posted into consideration, no need to repost in the new format)
    - use artist first, then title, then points.

  • I guess I'll start with the new format then. Here we go;

    Wednesday 13 - Calling All Corpses (10)
Fear and the Nervous System - Fear and the Nervous System (9)
Morbid Angel - Illud Divinum Insanus (8)
    Centox - Centox (7)
The Defiled - Grave Times (6)
In Flames - Sounds of a Playground Fading (5)
Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra (4)
    Skindred - Union Black (3)
Emmure - Speaker of the Dead (2)
Machine Head - Unto the Locust (1)

You should probably edit the first post so that everyone sees the new rules.

How can none of you mention Adele? Jesus Christ!

I don't have 10 but I'll give a few.. I don't feel like naming the albums. I'll have you figure them out. But they all released new albums this year.

    Clare Maguire
    Adele
    Florence + The Machine
    Veronica Maggio

I wouldn't say overrated but yeah I'm getting tired of seeing 21 on the top iTunes chart.

It's a fantastic album she's the next best thing in that genre since Amy Deadhouse..

  • 1) Lights - Siberia
    2) Tenhi - Saivo

  • No order.

    Anaal Nathrakh - Passion
    Blut Aus Nord - 777's (2 album)
    Thy Catafalque - Rengeteg
X-Fusion - Thorn in My Flesh
    Noisuf-X - Dead End District
    Lifelover - Sjukdom
Woods of Desolation - Torn Beyond Reason
    Raventale - Bringer of Heartsore
Hateful Tomorrow - Fates and Tragedies

That makes ten, I don't bother with bbcode, because no one will check them :P
